The Brisbane International Tennis Championshiop the first of the seaon in the WTA Tour 2009, is underway and in full swing and Ana Ivanovic the former world No1 and French Open Champion sailed through her opening round match winning in straight sets convincingly.

But her second round match against Italian qualifier Vinci proved to be more difficult with the match lasting a gruelling 2 hours and 36 minutes but Ivanovic finally came through with the result being 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-1 victory.

Ivanovic will be playing fith seed Mauresmo on Thursday.

Also the Auckland ASB Classic Tournament is also presently underway and the British No1 Anne Keothavong beat Mirjana Lucic 6-4, 6-2 and faces Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain in the second round
