Renee Zellweger of Bridget Jones’s Diary and more recently Letherheads fame is back in action in a new film called “New In Town” a romantic comedy also starring Harry Connick Jr.

David Letterman invited Renee for a bit of a chat, and this show was aired on 29 Jan. We do like this actress, she has this slightly quirky charm about her,  she is  a character and we’ve always got time for characters here. Renee is the sort of person made for interviews, ask one question and just sit back for 2 hours…….job done!

 To make her latest film based in various real US/Canadian locations including Winnipeg, Canada, which is used to depict the equally cold   Minnesota US state and country lifestyle and cold culture, where heels are not the way to go in 10 ft snow drifts!

Plot
A high-powered consultant (Renée Zellweger) in love with her upscale Miami lifestyle, adjusts to her new life in a small Minnesota town (New Ulm). She has been sent to oversee the restructuring of a factory. The locals give her a frosty reception. When she is ordered to shut down the manufacturing plant, the factory’s union man (Harry Connick, Jr.) fights to protect his co-worker’s jobs.

Renee Zellweger On Letterman 1-29-09 Part 1

This film is receiving neutral reviews from the major sites, it’s not earth shaterringly funny but managed to get a couple of chuckles out of us, it’s a good play on urban v country lifestyle and a move from a tropical Florida climate to a freeze your butt off in 2 seconds pretty cold one, we like the heel persistence theme even though you’re probably better off with an industrial pair of UGG’s. Renee is the right lady for this role and she pulls it off convincingly.  Essential viewing for people who are curious on “I Wonder what its like to live in Minnesota in the depths of Winter?” Rating: An extremely neutral 3 stars out 5. Take Renee out of the mix on this film and the rating heads South…………considerably!
