The Saturdays have a new single out called “Just Can’t Get Enough” which is a cover of the old Depeche Mode single by the same name. This song is done in aid of the Comic Relief Red Nose Day and all proceeds go to charity.

The Saturdays are relatively new on the scene and this new Brit-Irish Girl band is made up of Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Vanessa White and Rochelle Wiseman. Their top ten debut album, Chasing Lights, has produced three UK top ten singles: “If This Is Love”, “Up” and “Issues”.
They are looking to be as big as Girls Aloud maybe bigger as they have their sights on cracking the US market something Girls Aloud never managed to do. Same number of girls as Girls Aloud as in 5, and all very attractive and know how to put on a show, so what are they like musically.
By covering “Just Can’t Get Enough” an ancient but very good song from the iconic Depeche Mode they are off to a good start and can’t really go that far wrong. Good choice of song to cover. The video is raunchy but safe and fits the song and vocally they seem to be reasonable if not earth shatteringly good and an improvement on their earlier offerings which did not impress us one bit here at all!
Can’t comment on live as that is the real test, but from what we have seen here, they know how to flash their girly assets to the max, are in harmony and work pretty well together, manage to add a bit of girl power to an old all male line up song, with a full 5 girl knicker flash at the end just to drive the message home that they indeed “Just Can’t Get Enough”.
Its a cheeky take on the original and brought a smile to our faces, chart wise this will probably do quite well as this song is so old, a Saturdays revamp will pass off as an original for these girls for a lot of people, its catchy and with the charity thing going on here this will sell.
As always we mark down heavily on covers with a normal half star knock down, as we do like original material here which results in a net Rating of 3 stars out 5. Original it has to be said just has that bit more of a raw edge thing to it, but this is a good effort all the same and we like and its all for a good cause!
This song is out on 2nd March 2009. Get more details on The Saturdays at their website and start donatinghttp://www.thesaturdays.co.uk/
