Freida Pinto and the 2009 Oscars is the first post to get the ball rolling with further Oscar 2009 Red Carpet Coverage. Watch for further news!!
Anne Hathaway was one of the many stars on the red carpet arrivals pre the Oscar award ceremony for her nomination in the Best Actress category for her role in “Rachel Getting Married” putting her up against other top names such as Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Melissa Leo and Meryl Streep, the award eventually went to six times nominated and very deserving Kate Winslet.
A collection of video interviews from various sources, of varying quality, some just banter, some actually very good but its difficult to pin stars down at events of this size and answers tend to be limited due to the pressure of the event especially if they have been nominated for an award but eventually its down to the interviewer to get the required result. It’s not exactly Letterman standards!
For the ladies The Oscars was Kate Winslet’s day along with Penelope Cruz both winning Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively. But the Oscars isn’t just about the awards it’s also about who’s wearing what on the red carpet and who is shining, who looks very average and who definetly isn’t shining whatsoever. To quote a film title its the hotties and the notties, a recent film that Paris Hilton appeared in.
For us Jennifer Aniston was on the mark and we think she gave Angelina Jolie a run for her money, who played it safe and simple in Black.
A lot of the big name A listers have fashion advisers and guides on what looks good and what doesn’t and they get paid a fortune but even after all this some stars are renowned for getting it wrong every time and some just have a knack for hitting the mark.
This is all subjective, one person’s hottie is another person’s nottie and vica versa but here’s our verdict on some of the stars and what they looked like with label name!
First off some hotties!
Jennifer Aniston hit the spot for us, her dress was Valentino coupled with a sexy tan and we think she upstaged a classic adversary Angelina Jolie.
Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab simple, black ,elegant and top marks
Kate Winslet in grey Yves Saint Laurent. Class
Heidi Klum in bold red with splits by Roland Mouret
Natalie Portman pretty in Pink in Rodarte
And of course the Notties!
Rachel Weisz in Jenny Packham. Not very red carpet!
Sarah Jessica Parker in Dior. Oh Dear Oh Dear!
Vanessa Hudgens in Black Label Marchesa……Errrrmmmm!
Beyonce in House of Deron. Fishtails are in…….. sofa coverings are not…..No No No!
Jessica Biel in Prada. So near but yet so far the hanging bit on the front just kills an otherwise top scoring dress
She’s done it! Nominated five times previously and this award nomination was her sixth but Kate Winslet has achieved that dream and after what seems a life time of waiting has won an Oscar for “Best Actress” for her role in the Reader.
This is the picture the world wanted to see, The Oscars decided that this was Kate’s time and Kate’s dream became a reality and it couldn’t go to a more deserving person!
What makes this win evenmore noteworthy is the competition that she had to beat in order to win it including the likes of Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway, all putting in spellbinding performances in each of their film roles.
Her acceptance speech was a bit more restrained than her recent world famous award speeches although still understandably emotional , but was made in her typical down to earth style but the important people in her life were there including her husband Sam Mendes and her parents.
Penelope Cruz won the best supporting actress award and this win was a bit more of a dead certainty, with her unbelievable performance in the Woody Allen directed Film Vicky Christina Barcelona.
Full coverage of this event including arrivals, videos, photos and more will be later today. Our new site Femi Fame will be going live later today and will handle the overflow from this truly massive event.

Pre Oscar party time is here, question is do the stars stay at home and get an early night before the event …………….. looks like the answer is a very big NO!
Question is where are these parties, who attends, how many are there, and how do you get some sort of inside track. Our approach in these circumstances is to follow the socialites……………Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian will do very nicely, find them…………you’ve found the party, as they are always where it is happening. This story we wouldn’t have found if it wasn’t for Kim Kardashian, and she steals the headline over all the A listers for this article!
Various events were staged last night across the city in Los Angeles with the top notch bash having tickets changing hands at $10,000 a time at the Beverley Hills Hotel with top A listers such as Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise gracing their presence.
Across town in the Andaz Hotel, Leonardo Di Caprio, Lindsay Lohan, Chace Crawford of Gossip Girl fame and Marion Cotillard last years Oscar winner headed for the rooftop pool into the early hours.
Another party was held in the gardens of the Chateau Marmont and big names that attended included Sharon Stone, Dita Von Teese and Kim Kardashian with also a guest appearance again from Lindsay Lohan the party hopper!
Why do we get the distinct impression that there is a big event just around the corner?
The Spirit Awards an annual eve before the Oscar’s event which was held last night and celebrates the best of independent cinema and is a smaller scale and more casual event compared to the Oscars event being held tonight. Being a salute to independent films the event has a blue carpet instead of the normal red!
Not really an indicator of what could happen tonight at the Oscars but interesting all the same to see who cuts it at this independent film award ceremony.
Mickey Rourke dominated the event and stole the headline for most of the media for his role in the “The wrestler” and picked up a gong, and is nominated in the Oscars tonight, and there is a strong chance he could win.
Melissa Leo won the Best actress gong for her role in the human trafficking film “Frozen River” and she is up for the same award at the Oscars tonight, but is up against some serious competition from heavyweight names including Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway and is currently ranked by bookmakers as an outsider.
Best Supporting actress went to Penelope Cruz for her role in the Woody Allen directed comedy drama Vicky Christina Barcelona. She is someone to watch in tonights Oscars as she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress, and is top favourite to win this gong.
Other awards went to the films “Milk”, “The Visitor” for Best Director and “The Class” for best foreign film.
Teri Hatcher was at the event, didn’t win any awards, but she gets her picture here anyway!
Probably the last celebrity site to get in on this story, we have our reasons, regulars will know what they are, it’s something called “privacy” (not much of that around when you are a celeb) and we needed to see more solid facts..
So here’s the story if you haven’t heard it yet:
Brown, 19, is under investigation for an attack on a woman in the hours leading up to this month’s Grammy awards in Los Angeles; a person familiar with the situation, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter and requested anonymity, has confirmed that the woman was Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Source AP
Now the story is out in the public domain and Rihanna and Chris Brown have made statements about what we will call in police terms “the alleged event” which took place on 7/8 February in the early hours, it’s the recent supposed picture of Rihanna in a police mugshot style with facial injuries that backs the headline that is all over the net and in the papers that is causing people concern including this site.
The picture below was taken on the very night BEFORE the incident!
The mugshot picture was leaked to a hugely popular US Celeb Gossip Website called TMZ, and the story goes that this picture was released as a shock tactic by friends of Rihanna as a form of revenge. The LA police department are reported to be investigating this photo release.
Since this picture has surfaced there have been statements from both parties:
Chris Brown:
A statement released through his publicist
”Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counselling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person,”

Rihanna:
“At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown,” the star said via her spokesperson.
“She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong.”
and added she was
“doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time”.

The fall out from this as you can imagine is wild fire media coverage, Rihanna who is currently on a global tour having to cancel tour dates and her birthday event on Friday just gone was also cancelled, and Chris Brown’s music career possibly could be affected along with advertising contracts and other high profile engagements and product type endorsements.
Both are keeping a low profile and the investigation continues!
