Things have been a bit quiet Christina Ricci wise lately, the last time we remember her in the major news headlines was with her appearance in the film “Speed Racer” some time ago. Thats the way things are in the actress world, one minute you are on the red carpet and the world is at your feet and you are headline news, the next you are technically unemployed with not a dime coming in and firmly out of the limelight, Lindsay Lohan would be a very current case in point, although LiLo in all honesty is never out of the limelight for reasons everybody is aware!
The paps are all too aware of this phenonenom and when stars are not in the top headlines they are easier to photograph and in our opinion these make the better pictures and the stars probably don’t mind a bit of attention. But it looks like Nina Ricci is starting to hit the headlines as she has just recently got engaged to comedian Owen Benjamin (above) which is an interesting choice, as she is a mere 5ft 1in and her new fiance is a whopping 6ft 6in. They met on the set of “Alls Faire in Love”. Reminds us of another couple made up of the shorter actress Eva Longoria with her unequally tall husband Tony Parker.
Ricci and Benjamin have recently been spotted house hunting apparently in Silver Lake, Los Angeles and also spotted in Borders Book Store in LA and there’s a Christina Ricci “moment” photo below where she briefly lets her guard down by removing her shades which a pap who just happened to be there at the time??, has managed to capture. On a windy day at Indian Wells with gusts affecting serves it was down to the players ability to thrive in these conditions that decided the winner and Vera Zvonareva the Russian player came through in commendable style beating the defending champion Ana Ivanovic 7-6, (7-5), 6-2 to claim the BNP Paribas Womens title.
The wind hampered Ivanovics play and was a contributing factor to her 46 unforced errors, the wind caused problems with serves for both players, with dust causing ball sighting difficulties and some rallies had to be abandoned due to debris being blown across the court hampering play.
The singles trophy won by Vera Zvonareva she has also added to her win in the Womens doubles at Indian Wells with Victoria Azarenka.
Ana Ivanovic in form terms despite this final match in difficult conditions is firmly rising and she looks to be hitting her prime in readiness for the all important Grand Slams that are coming up later this year including the French Open which she won last year!
Rising star Vera Zvonareva with this Indian Wells win looks possibly set to become the worlds number 5 ahead of Venus Williams when the WTA rankings are released later today and has shown that in adverse conditions she can shine and beat the worlds best and is one to watch when the Grand Slams get underway!
Jade Goody died of cervical cancer early this Sunday Morning 22 March in her sleep, and was a mere 27 years of age. She died at her home in Upshire in Essex.

With a very high profile in the media of her dying weeks showing the suffering and pain that can be caused by this disease, coverage of which we avoided here, she was a reality TV star to the bitter end and her death has raised a startling awareness of cervical cancer to the world at large, prompting a huge rise in women having precautionary check ups, so her death was not in vain.
The reality Tv’s star most famous for her appearance on Big Brother in 2002 and was famous for her loud and very vocal personality and lived life very much in a full on and always in the thick of contoversy way, and battled through life in a courageous manner. But through the publicity campaign and also the media coverage of her very recent wedding, managed to raise a considerable sum of money which will be left for her children and family.
Jade Goody in her day was a name that could start many a heated discussion amongst the British public but in her last months leading up to her death has surprised and won the hearts of a large portion of the nation and converted many Goody doubters and proved deep down she was all heart!
Her funeral is planned for roughly 10 days time and in true Jade Goody style will be another very public event, her relatives saying that is the way she planned it, and how she wanted to be remembered!

Indian Wells will play host to the womens WTA BNP Paribas Open Final tennis in what looks to be a gripping match with 5th seeded Ana Ivanovic playing 4th seeded Vera Zvonareva.
Zvonareva beat her doubles partner Victoria Azarenka in 2 straight sets 6-3 6-3 and Ivanovic smashed the Russian 17 year old Anastasia Pavyluchenkova 6-2 6-3.

Ivanovic who has been struggling to find form earlier in the season is starting to play at more of a standard that we normally expect from this star, and the media have reported her success being attributed to her love of hard surface courts which is born out by her victory in the French Open last year which have the world renowned clay courts where she defeated Dinara Safina.
The tennis tounament has been taking place at Indian Wells in California amidst sweltering temperatures, a mere stones throw from Palm Springs.

Courteney Cox the friends star has been spotted on set filming in Los Angeles for a new TV comedy called “Cougar Town” which was being shot on 19 March.
It’s set to be broadcast by ABC and is about a 40 year old woman that has been out of the dating game for a while and is “hungry” and on “the prowl” for a younger man (men) and is keen to hit the dating scene big time.
She was spotted in a stripey dress, skyscraper heels and a large bag and looked every inch a maneater. The shows name comes from a slang term which means a woman on the prowl for a toyboy, which is known as a cougar.
There have been rumours that the Friends comedy TV series was set for a film production but these rumours have been denied.
This is Cox’s first new show for filming since her role in the axed magazine drama called “Dirt”. Any news on release dates will be here when they are available!
Fast & Furious premiered in London last night at the Vue Cinema in Leicester Square and there was a turnout for this one, as this franchise has quite a following. With film premiere’s in Leicester Square getting ever more inventive with stars turning up on bicycles, rickshaws, double decker buses and even on foot, you’ve got to cause a stir these days and “Fast & Furious” did not disappoint.
Flag girls in hot pants got the proceedings underway and then the stars turned up in brightly coloured race cars to give a taste of what the film is all about.
Appearances including quite a few of the cast and some celeb guests including Ben Adams, Jordana Brewster, Justin Lin, Michelle Rodriguez, Naomi Millbank-Smith, Paul Walker, Sam, Shane Lynch and Vin Diesel. Vin Diesel stayed just a short while as he had to go for an interview with Johnathen Ross on TV.
An action film amongst action films its a sort of hot babes and fast cars with a bit of crime thrown into the mix this is the forth installment in this franchise.
Plot:
When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with Brian O’Connor (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him. And from convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge: push the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel.
A bit of word play on this film title as it should be “The Fast and the Furious 4″ but instead they have dropped 2 “the’s” replaced “and” with an ampersand and dropped the number. This film hops back briefly to the first original outing and is in effect being billed as an interquel which slots in between number 2 and number 3 films. The original cast from the original film resume their roles as if they haven’t been away, a shrewd move and one fans will revel in. 100 cars were “totalled” in the making of this film so its all pretty authentic!
The original film was a hard act to follow and 2 and 3 were predictably not as good by a long mark but this fourth installment although playing on similar themes is getting solid reviews from people who have seen more than the trailer ,who are saying it is better than the orginal No1 installment. High octane, hot babes, fast cars, and a white knuckle adrenalin ride this certainly is. This is an eye candy spectacular, with plenty of froth and foam but whats the beer like??
Thats the plus side, the negs are acting and script and even from the trailer the limited dialogue are sacrificed for the action, it is an action film granted, but a bit more in the plot and dialogue department just broadens the appeal a bit. There are two ways to rate this type of film, 1/ as an action critic who would give this a solid 4 stars and 2/ as a critic critic who would mark this film down in the region of 2 stars. We are falling with the latter and adding an extra half star as we do like Michelle Rodriguez!! Rating 2 and half stars out 5. Essential viewing for action/adrenaline junkies and will in all probability do supremely well at the box office. Those looking for complex plot/storyline/acting/dialogue though you may want to look elsewhere!
