Leona Lewis performed live the other night not at a huge concert venue but at a birthday and earned a cool £1M for her efforts.

She performed at Phones4U founder John Caudwell’s daughter Libby’s 21st birthday party singing 7 songs in front of 200 people at the party held in Eccleshall in Staffordshire.

Leona was hired by the billionaire business owner to surprise his daughter which it certainly did, and his daughter joined Leona Lewis to sing one of her favourites “Bleeding Love”. A 21st she’ll remember for the rest of her life.

We are just working out the pay rate here, 7 songs probably sung in 1 hour equals £1M an hour. Just slightly more than minimun wage we think!

Other news Ne-Yo is putting some creative input into the Leona Lewis department, with a new ballad style song in the development stages and he is keen to get her out performing live although apparently she is very shy in front of huge audiences, something we were not aware of when she performed live on X Factor last year in front of a TV audience of 10M plus. Some more photos of Angelina Jolie whilst filming on set of her new film “Salt” which were taken on Wednesday 18 March in New York. Angelina plays a CIA agent accused of being a Russian spy and is trying to clear her name. See previous posts for more footage.

This particular scene shows her surrounded by police, she is wearing a black wig and leathers and looks like she is being arrested. She is covered in dust and so are the police and she has been handcuffed and it is not looking a particularly pleasurable experience. This scene which looks total chaos was filmed outside St Bart’s church in Manhattan.

Again a photo and set that raises many questions about the film, unfortunately the answers will not be known until at least very much later this year when post production may be nearing completion! From what we are seeing here and from previous sets, this really does look to be one seriously good film!

One rumoured scene we are waiting for here is where Angelina Jolie gets chased by assasins in a roof top style chase. If it is happening it will be here!

A photo that caught our eye in the media today, in what  photographers call “the moment” , it’s something that is there for a split second never to be seen again, it’s a special thing especially when people are concerned, if you can capture it…………it’s priceless!

The Valentino Premiere was held last night and Gwyneth Paltrow attended the Premiere (see previous post) and also attended the after dinner party along with Madonna held at the Oak Room in NYC. Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna are very close friends as fans will know, and Gwyneth helped Madonna get through the rocky process of her recent divorce.

This photo is one of those “moments” you will not see on the red carpet, or on screen as everything is staged, but at the unpressurised after parties where the alcohol flows freely and only a few privileged photographers are allowed in, you see the true stars and you also see true smiles and laughter.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna having a girls night out, after their lifes ups and downs, looking relaxed, having a good time, and looking truly happy with life.  You can just make out Anne Hathaway in the background and Clare Danes sat next to Madonna (not in photo). A classic happy photo and one that raises a thousand questions and ………………….”the moment”!

A headline we have been circling for the last couple of days but it has been confirmed that Natasha Richardson the English Actress has died aged 45. A first death for this site and never a pleasant business, but unfortunately part of life, but Natasha Richardson has died in hospital after suffering a fatal head injury in a skiing accident in Canada on Monday.

The decision was made to turn off the life support machine in the early hours of this morning after she  was diagnosed brain dead by the New York hospital a condition where the body is still alive and the heart is beating but the brain has stopped functioning.

The decision was made by her family including her husband actor Liam Neeson, her mother the famous legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave amongst other family members. Other actresses/friends present included Lauren Bacall and Meryl Streep.

The family looks set to plan a small private funeral with memorial services for the award winning actress.

This news has shocked the celebrity world who have come out in support of the family. First of many reactions we think from the world at large, the lights on Broadway in New York  are billed to be dimmed this Thursday in her memory!

Gossip Girl as everybody knows by now, especially New Yorkers, is filmed regularly on location in New York on pretty much a weekly basis in the streets. Footage is freely available from various sources but quality and content is highly variable. Well in our opinion this video footage below is spot on the money!

This video is in the top quality and top marks for content category with one of our favourites Leighton Meester dressed in green, on set with Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford doing what they call in the US “making out” actually on set. She’s really going for it, and all that it took was a bunch of flowers and a little bit of “chat”. Something us mere mortals can only dream about! A fascinating insight into TV production but more importantly a very good insight into whether Leighton Meester is as good a kisser as she is in the looks department. We would have to say she certainly IS……………Steamy stuff!

Valentino The Last Emperor had its premiere last night and a very fitting film it is for a female celebrity website. It was held in New York at the The Roy and Niuta Titus Theater, The Musuem of Modern Art and the film is a documentary about the fashion designer Valentino Garavani and this man when asked the question “What do women want” replies quite simply “They want to be beautiful !” With that kind of designer at his film premiere you can bet your last dollar the female stars will be coming out en masse.

Here’s a sample of who attended Anne Hathaway, Carolina Herrera, Claire Danes, Coco Rocha, Deborra-Lee Furness, Erin Fetherston, Gayle King, Gwyneth Paltrow, Joy Philbin, Karolina Kurkova, Lake Bell, Maria Menounos,  Martha Stewart, Nicole Trunfio, Olivia, Olivia Chantecaille, Padma Lakshmi, Rachel Roy, Regis Philbin, Selita Ebanks, Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss and Tinsley Mortimer.

The Plot:

The film is a documentary about the legenedary fashion designer Valentino Garavani , his life, his works, his dreams and was shot on location behind closed doors in effect gaining you a true and not posed view of “the inner circle” getting you right into the fashion machine and the creative mind behind the legendary name. The film focuses strongly on his strong relationship with his business partner of 50 years Mr Giammetti.

His client list is world famous with a huge big name female star list following with the most famous from the past being Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

The Verdict:

Very difficult to rate documentary style films but from what we have seen a lot of painstaking work has gone into making this documentary and gives a fascinating insight into the creative process and the creative mind and the industry that this mind is working in and has been for half a century.

Plenty of very privileged insider viewing into celebrity life and a female celebrity spotters delight with some of the most beautiful and famous women and stunning models, a luxurious and oppulent view of the world a sort of top down view you could say. Traditional film technicals are not really a consideration in relation to this type of film, its information, insight, accuracy and how it is presented and put together that is important.   Box office wise we are not so sure, it could go either way, but if you follow fashion and follow celebrities as obviously you do as you are reading this, then this looks to be essential viewing without a doubt! On that basis our Rating 3 and half stars out 5. A Quality production!

Julia Roberts was on the Late Show with David Letterman last night in New York and was on the show to promote her role in the new film Duplicity which is due for release on 20 March which also stars Clive Owen. See our previous post for the UK film premiere and our film rating. Julia has been on Letterman so many times we have lost count!

She has even presented re runs of the show when Letterman had bypass surgery, and this interview has Julia on fine form, she’s a character, she’s the sort of person that can turn the interview around, and in the end the interviewer is being asked the questions much to their amusement and she does it in such a way you are not even aware of it, very interesting to watch. Very clever lady this one!

Julia Roberts on leaving the show was also an interesting event as a fan that the media are nicknaming “radio man” managed to grab Julia’s attention (or was it the radio) and he managed to get a hug off her, and she had a little play with his radio which must have made his day, probably his year!
