Female Celebrity of the Month for June 2010 is a tough call. May was a very quiet month but in what looks to be a very busy month news wise in June, the number of female celebrity choices are numerous. What with Glastonbury, The World Cup, numerous divas in comeback mode launching singles and albums, not to mention film releases and then to top it all Wimbledon 2010, the choice for June is overwhelming.

Heres our shortlist:

Maria Sharapova.   The Russian Tennis star and former World No1 who is currently rising rapidly on form. Very popular on this site for obvious reasons. We think she is set to shine in Wimbledon in preference to the French open, which would be perfect timing for a June Female Celebrity of the Month appearance.

Serena Williams: Very strong candidate. Current World No1 the same as how she ended last season.Been off due to injuries but is back and the brilliance is still there. Currently tying with the legendary tennis player Billie Jean King on 12 Grand Slam wins. If she wins the French Open or Wimbledon she will make Tennis history and be the new tennis legend.

 Megan Fox: Incredibly popular everywhere, being billed as the highly debatable new Angelina Jolie. Currently on the main entrance page to FJ Girls and the number of visitors on this part of this site has quadrupled as a result. No real news for her in June but this is an actress you could put as Female Celebrity of the Month at any month. Has yet to have a showing on this site as Female Celebrity of the Month. The wild card of the bunch but a very distinct possibility.

Kelly Rowland: New album and new single called “Commander” being released in June which demostrates her superior vocal range to that of Beyonce is starting to cause some media waves and getting the serious thumbs up from this website.. She looks to be trying her hand at “Dance” in preference to R n B and with some serious backing from club maestro David Guetta, we think this is a devastating combo to make also ex Destiny’s Child Beyonce sit up and take notice and maybe chew a few nails in the process. There is a lot of talent here. We are that impressed this would be  something we would be prepared to throw everything including the kitchen sick at. If  she’s not female celebrity of the month she will receive blinding coverage regardless!

Other stars considered, Christina Aguilera with her new comeback Album and Kylie Minogue also set to burn up the wires in June!

In tennis circles this match and question is on the tips of every body’s tongues as Maria Sharapova and Justine Henin haven’t played against each other for 2 and half years. Maria Sharapova former World No1 a few years back seems to be coming into form recently with her victory at Strasbourg just before this 2010 French Open event.

Throw into the mix Justine Henin of Belgium the comeback queen who has managed to upset the Williams sisters apple cart who is favourite to win this event and we have probably one of the highlight fireworks matches of the French Open.

Based on current track record, odds and general on paper credentials Henin will win. But Maria Sharapova has the ability to cause some problems here, she is theoretically the underdog in this match which is sometimes a more favourable place to be in psycholigical terms.  Add to this that Henin is also lacking the sparkle she had at the beginning of her comeback and the chance of winning cannot be ruled out..The Williams sisters will also be watching this match closely with intense interest.

Match play is today (Saturday) but subject to weather as some matches have been postponed due to rain in Paris recently

Did the female stars turn out for the premiere of Sex and the City 2. Oh Yes! Jammed packed it was, brimming with UK female stars. Normally a handful turn up at these premiere’s but as it is a 100% girly film they were practically pole vaulting over the barricades to get in. It was a sort of  “Are you invited……………NO…………….but I’m coming in anyway ” wildebeest sort of mentality type of event. Add the competition factor into the mix and you have a recipe for some fever pitch attention grabbing stuff on the red carpet, as if you play it safe you look a bit dull and boring……..!

Who gets the red carpet nod for this event. No doubt about it, Rachel Stevens (above) grabs the gong and add to that she’s newly pregnant according to the latest vibe on the wires and she just pips Amanda Holden (below) who also shone…………………but that’s just our opinion!!

Sex and the City 2 had its premiere in London last night, not that the world at large needs to be told that unless you’ve been on Pluto for the last 24 hours. Film premiere’s are tricky and then very tricky beasts to guess who will turn up let alone whether the event is going ahead. There is an equation with film premiere’s , the bigger the film and stars the bigger the disappointment………..but not always!

Not so with the Sex and the City 2 Premiere. Full house turn up from all 4 actresses as in Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. An even bigger turn up from a barrage of other female celebrities means this  film premiere post has had to be split into 2 parts something we do with major film awards.

First part will focus on the lead actresses and the film plus some sample reviews. Second part (post) will try to cover the photo highlights of the red carpet as in the huge guest list and we mean huge. Massive girly turnout celeb guest wise on this one as is too be expected, they got the clobber on big time, you can almost hear them fighting to get on that red carpet and see the fur flying, as this is a 100% girly film. More on that in Part 2.

In our opinion the red carpet award goes to Sarah Jessica Parker for the outrageous and pomp and glory touch but for the quiet and sexually smouldering slick “I’ve got IT and I don’t have to try too hard” look we preferred Kim Cattrall (below) but it’s all a matter of taste.

Onto the film. SATC 2 is a bit of a departure from the first being a film of two halves firstly set in the normal NYC as in Manhattan as was the first outing but then they head off to the Middle East causing all sorts of chaos with their rampant hormones.

So is this film worth going to see? There’s loads of film review sites out there, and there are film critics galore in the press, we have taken two that FJ takes notice of most of the time for their differing views to see whether they arrive at the same verdict. Cue Larushka Ivan-Zadeh of the free paper Metro and Alex Zane of The Sun.

Lets get the female perspective first:

Before you all start with “Two stars? Stupid Critic, what does she know?” I wish to state that I not only loved the first movie, I can practically recite the entire TV series. And I’m telling you, my fellow SATC-istas, that you just won’t be that into this sequel.

she went onto say

“With their single girl dilemmas, these women weren’t princessy, they were like us – except three times thinner and with amazing shoes. Here they’re more like the feather headed idiots your boyfriend always sneered they were.

Rating 2 stars! Ouch. How about the male perspective is there any hope there, the odds are stacked against it, but lets take a look and have a laugh and see what Alex Zane of The Sun had to say.

“Don’t judge me fellas, but I have actually watched many of the TV Episodes of Sex and the city. OK I’m probably not the target audience, but relationships are about give and take aren’t they?

he then added

Just as you’re settling back into these familiar surroundings (NYC) the four leads are suddenly whisked off to Abu Dhabi as the guests of a Sheik. At this point it goes from what we know and love to what were they thinking……………Get the Sex back in the City of New York please, where it belongs

Rating 2 stars .    Double Ouch.

Not looking promising on the critical front is it. BUT here’s the thing. As with all such films, if SATC is in your blood, you’re going to see it anyway and it will be a box office smash and nothing less.

Will FJ be dragged to see it? Errrrr in a wooden box………………feet are currently firmly nailed to the floorboards and ear plugs firmly in……………….say no more. Will probably be in the cinema next door watching “Losers” sending texts saying “is it over yet?”! Could be a rough couple of weeks ahead…………..now where’s that hammer!
