Wearing a suit and a ring on her engagement finger, Lindsay Lohan arrives at court to face Judge Marsha Revel. The actress was ordered to appear after missing a mandatory hearing for failling to complete alcohol education classes imposed for a 2007 DUI case. Lindsay missed last week’s hearing after her passport was allegedly stolen from her hotel room whilst she was in the French resort of Cannes publicising her Linda Lovelace biopic. After the relatively quick court hearing, Judge Marsha Revel ordered Lohan to attend one alcohol education course a week, wear a SCRAM bracelet, and refrain from drinking alcohol as well as undergo random drug testing. Rihanna Rockstar 101 Official Preview Video!

Rihanna does love to tease. The full Rockstar 101 sampler has been out a while but its the matching official video everybody is waiting for. Will it match or better “Rude Boy” as that is a tough and steamy act to follow.

One comment from a You Tuber that was thought to be very good and which we are in total agreement with:

“haha i love her. she’s doing the whole lady gaga outfit thing.. but she does it better ;)

Oh Yeah!

Justine Henin the comeback Queen from Belgium looks set to cause problems for the Williams sisters. Serena Williams is placed at No2 but quite a way behind on the actual odds as the bookies have probably factored in the fact that she has been off earlier this season with an injury. Dinara Safina interestingly who was last years World No1 for much of the season but eventually lost that crown to Serena Williams is well down the pecking order at 33/1. Jelenan Jankovic who normally is placed in the top 10 on odds is in third place ahead of Venus Williams who has never been keen on the clay surface at Roland Galos.

Photo below of Maria Sharapova who is very popular on this site, winning at Strasbourg prior to this event! Our money wouldn’t be on her at this stage in the season but Wimbledon onwards could be interesting as she has been No1 in the past.

Cate Blanchett and Oscar Acceptance Speech Vid 2005 and Acceptance Speech Celebrity Tip No 11!

Major award acceptance speeches especially at the higher brow film award events such as the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards, to get them right is an art form and more challenging than any acting role as you will be live across the globe. Goof up and it’s in the papers and across the web the following day and will always be mentioned for years to come. Just like life…………..you only have one shot at it……might as well make it a good one!

Vanity Fair Oscar Party - Arrivals

Actress Cate Blanchett winner of the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in ‘The Aviator’ arrives holding her Oscar award at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party at Mortons on February 27, 2005 in West Hollywood, California. (Photo by Mark Mainz/Getty Images)

Turning the clock back to 2005 Cate Blanchett won a well deserved Oscar for Best Supporting actress whilst she starred alongside names such as Kate Beckinsale and Leonardo Di Caprio in the superb film about the life and times of Howard Hughes, the film being “The Aviator”. Cate’s speech while not earth shatteringly great does hit the spot in many areas on what an acceptance speech should be like. Here’s some pointers on what to say and what not to say and do if you ever do reach the dizzy heights of getting one of those golden statues written from a celebrity perspective.

Cate Blanchett 2005 Best Supporting Actress Academy Award Winner Acceptance Speech

1. Don’t go all blubbery, try to keep a cool head, standing their with mascara running down your face and being broadcast around the world is pretty much as uncool as it can get although it can be difficult!

2. On the other hand don’t stand their holding the statue with indifference and delivering a short 30 second speech saying thank you and running off the stage much to the annoyance of the audience and the world at large . The world expects more!

3. Do mention the people that helped you get the award but don’t turn it into a 10 minute long list that includes your pet gerbil and the next doors baby you see once a year.

4. Don’t go all ditzy saying you were not expecting this and didn’t prepare a speech. Wrong move. If you are nominated for an award amongst 5 or 6 other people chances or you may win. Better have some sort of speech ready just in case, doesn’t look good otherwise.

5. Watch the steps heading up to the stage and even more so heading back to the audience, many stars have come a cropper on either of those journeys, actresses in particular who are up for an award should plan clothing that looks good on the red carpet but will also not trip you up on the night in front of millions of viewers worldwide.

6. Do throw in the odd bit of humour in your speech but don’t turn it into a comedy club stand up job, this is big time award territory and it’s serious stuff!

7. A speech of about 1-2 minutes is about right, any longer and it will seem a lifetime and you will feel the audience and world whispering “get off”, any shorter and it looks like you can’t wait to get off the stage and the award doesn’t mean that much to you……doesn’t look good!

8. It goes without saying and may seem obvious but do say thank you for the award!

Cate Blanchett and her 2005 acceptance speech although not one of the all time best, ticked all the right boxes and just looking at the audience full of fellow actors. actresses and directors proves that point. She was nervous, you can tell by her voice which we think wasn’t put on but she remained calm and poised. An intelligent speech but at a grass roots level with the human touch with a dash of humour and she made contact with the whole audience.
