Petra Kvitova the Czech player  and Serena Williams of the USA were on centre court battling out the right to play in the finals at Wimbledon and battle is the surprising word. Kvotiva who is only twenty looked to have the slight edge in the openers in the first set with Serena looking to struggle to get used to the ball spin coming off her left handed opponent which looked to be affecting her balance normally used to right handed serves and things were looking very shaky indeed for Serena and Petra looked to be gaining confidence as time progressed. With the longer rally’s seeming to fall surprisingly to Petra Kvitova, the Serena class was looking a little slow to surface and a surprising tie break was the decider for the first set which fell it has to be said not easily with Serena in the end showing her No1 seeding to win the first set 7-6. The second set looked to be going the same way with things looking very even and a match between a Number 1 and Top 10 seeded player rather than somebody seeded as in the 60s+. At 4-2 with Kvitova down and playing for the deciding point the rally was incredible with Kvitova doing an over the shoulder back return in the middle and she won the rally. Serena pulled through in the end though with the final set going 6-2.

Serena Williams goes through to the 2010 Wimbledon Final and faces Vera Zvonerava on Saturday 3rd July. Hats off to Petra Kvitova though, sometimes she was a mirror image of Serena in tennis quality terms and certainly caused her to stretch to the limit. Now after playing at this level and only being 20 Petra Kvitovaooks to be a force to be reckoned with . A little trademark courtesy from Serena on court was the final thing to seal the deal that she was the winner again!

Serena in the interview said she was surprised it went as long as it did and is aware she will have her work cut out again to seal the deal in this very last game, just one step away from that trophy! Cool calm and collected and supreme Serena rules the day again!
