She’s been two years in the making but finally new girl on the block Edei has a new number out called “In My Bed” This new singer from London is classed as a blend of pop, funk and soul and has toured last year with Girls Aloud on their “Out Of Control” Tour under the name of Emma Deigmann. This new single is due for release on 21 July (8th August according to You Tube) and her new album is due for release in the Autumn. Her inspirations include Michael Jackson, Chrisitna Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. Lets put this through its paces.
The Verdict:
The video we would class as in the not bad category, it’s typical of somebody starting out as the budget looks to be on the low side for this vid but it still cuts it none the less and does the job and fits the song style.
Onto the more important song and it’s in a slightly retro style which seems to be the “thing” at the moment and Edei and her vocals in studio terms look to be half decent. Only criticism is she is a bit shaky on the rock bottom low notes which marks her down a tad and something that may need to be looked at!. Ticks all the right boxes in technical terms otherwise but it’s not in the outstanding category for us more, in the 3 star style and our Rating is yet another 3 stars. She deserves to do well regardless though.
Chart wise the remix package of ‘In My Bed’ recently crashed straight into the Top 10 of the influential Upfront Club Chart. Whether that will convert into the same success in the mainstream pop chart remains to be seen.
The album could be interesting as apparently she has worked in collaboration with Mary J Blige’s backing singers, and Alicia Keys’ brass section. One to keep an eye on!
