Diana Vickers the Lancashire X Factor finalist warbler has a new number out today called “The Boy Who Murdered Love” and this song is the follow up to her debut chart smashing No1 single “Once” taking from her debut album “Songs From the Tainted Cherry Tree”.
The Verdict:
Debut singles going to No1 are always good news especially for a new and upcoming artist. The only problem is how do you follow up that success or even try and improve on it. “The Boy Who Murdered Love” is in a tricky position and has to follow a tough act, how does it do? The video is girly, quirky, very Diana Vickers and hits the spot dead on just like the arrow in the vid. Onto the song and Diana’s breathy, husky vocals are right on the money, good solid backing, good lyrics, catchy and classy all adds up to a decent number. She looks more relaxed on this video and more like the star she should be. We would even say that this is a better song in technical terms than “Once” which didn’t really grab us here but obviously grabbed the music buying public.
She’s got a following this one, after her X Factor appearance, and this song can only increase that following. This song we think will be a hit with the female market who can relate to what this song is all about so chart wise this could be another big one……..depends what’s out there at the time. Looks like this could be heading for a decent score.? Rating 3 and half stars…………………but only just……………..not bad for somebody who didn’t win X Factor and up their with the quality big name stars no problem!!!!
