Katy Perry and “Teenage Dream” and Verdict!

The Katy Perry “Teenage Dream” sampler has been out a couple of days on You Tube and its time to take a look at this follow up single to “California Gurls” which we only rated at 3 stars+ due to its bubblegummy sound which we are not keen on here, but regardless it reached No1. This is a totally different sound altogether. Let’s see how it does.

The Verdict:

With no official video distractions and just the sound, this is one of those songs that straight out of the starting blocks had us hooked from the beginning. Decent lyrics, a lush sounding mixed with higher notes Perry, very good on the vocals, good solid thumping underpinning in the backing and catchy catchy it certainly is. Totally different animal to “California Gurls”. We think this is a technically superior song and it’s a bit meaner and grittier sounding than her earlier offering although Katy Perry is not renowned for her grittiness.The all important girly factor is still in play though but the bubblegum thankfully isn’t. Slight repetition at the end keeps it off the coveted 4 star spot. Rating. 3 and half stars ++………a decent drill in your head poppy tune… We like……….now where’s that replay button!
