You’re a world class tennis player called Serena Williams (World No1) who has just won the Women’s Wimbledon 2 years in a row, you’ve won 13 grand slams and beaten the legendary Billie Jean King who was on 12 Grand slams. You are basically on a roll, do you lock yourself away for a couple of months to avoid injury so you are fighting fit for the 2010 US Open? No is the answer to that one, but unfortunately Serena on one of her many nights out between these two grand slam events has injured her foot and will require surgery. A US Open appearance is looking very shaky indeed.

She cut her foot whilst leaving a restaurant on some glass and will be receiving surgery which means she will be out of the Istanbul, Cincinnati and Montreal events. The Montreal event is particularly significant as this one is a week before the 2010 US Open which is being held on August 30th.
Serena has suffered injury earlier this season and just managed to come back before the French Open and her performance was adequate. 1 week before the US Open is a tall order to really get back in shape before this grand slam grueller.
She said according to The Evening Standard ““I’m so upset I won’t be able to play in the upcoming events,” she said. “I can’t wait to get back on the courts.”

Alicia Keys has decided to beat her own path after mutually splitting with her manager of more than ten years – Jeff Robinson. Alicia will still work or consult with Jeff Robinson when it comes to any future albums but she has decided to take complete control of the other parts of her career such as touring, music licensing and film and TV opportunities that come her way. Control is the key word here with singing and songwriting being the two main things that will be directly under her control. Her latest number called “Unthinkable” below:
In a very recent interview with the Telegraph whilst performing in London, Alicia who is currently pregnant had these words of wisdom on what makes her truly happy.
“What does make her happy? ‘I don’t have a ton of friends but the friends I have are great ones. I don’t have huge family but the family I have is a great one. I have solid decent people around me and I believe that is all it is, because you will get destroyed if you have people bringing you down.”

The cast of the runaway success story and controversial US TV series Jersey Shore are currently “downing tools” as in going on “strike” for the shoot of the latest series according to TMZ today.

There has apparently been a bit of a “situation” over the less than “Woww” pay for the shooting of the third series of Jersey Shore so much so that the whole cast have decided to go on strike to see if they can get a better deal than the one that is currently on the table. It sounds like it’s a financial situation over the contract as opposed to other terms such as working conditions. These people are getting quite famous now and it could be that now the show is into it’s third season and viewing figures are on the rise, the money they are getting may not be rising in line with this rising fame.
Snooki and the Situation shoot on Tuesday, Snooki is backing the action, The Situation is as yet unclear where he leans. MTV who back the show had no comment!
Diana Vickers the Lancashire X Factor finalist warbler has a new number out today called “The Boy Who Murdered Love” and this song is the follow up to her debut chart smashing No1 single “Once” taking from her debut album “Songs From the Tainted Cherry Tree”.
The Verdict:
Debut singles going to No1 are always good news especially for a new and upcoming artist. The only problem is how do you follow up that success or even try and improve on it. “The Boy Who Murdered Love” is in a tricky position and has to follow a tough act, how does it do? The video is girly, quirky, very Diana Vickers and hits the spot dead on just like the arrow in the vid. Onto the song and Diana’s breathy, husky vocals are right on the money, good solid backing, good lyrics, catchy and classy all adds up to a decent number. She looks more relaxed on this video and more like the star she should be. We would even say that this is a better song in technical terms than “Once” which didn’t really grab us here but obviously grabbed the music buying public.
She’s got a following this one, after her X Factor appearance, and this song can only increase that following. This song we think will be a hit with the female market who can relate to what this song is all about so chart wise this could be another big one……..depends what’s out there at the time. Looks like this could be heading for a decent score.? Rating 3 and half stars…………………but only just……………..not bad for somebody who didn’t win X Factor and up their with the quality big name stars no problem!!!!
With the increasing popularity of the mobile internet and increasing use of mobile devices and smart phones to access it we have decided to create an fjgirls website for mobile users which is currently at the drawing board stage. Currently about 1% of visitors to fjgirls.com are on a mobile device, this will grow rapidly as more people get on the mobile internet bandwagon and also fjgirls.com is made mobile friendly.
This website will be going mobile in the next couple of months or so, something that is currently being developed and is in the pipeline for the future. The mobile site will either be on the m.fjgirls.com or mobile.fjgirls.com sub domains, more probably the shorter m version as it’s easier to type.
As with all mobile websites this will be a stripped down and smaller version of the main site (which will remain). What this mobile site will lack in appearance and bells and whistles it will still have in content so you can keep up with the latest developments whilst on the move.
We did try a mobile conversion software for the main fjgirls site on Sunday and it produced a string of error codes and net result no website…….something we are looking into!
In the meantime we have a Beta version which works on the latest Nokia Smartphones (mine) and should work on the likes of Blackberry and HTC and others in the form of a google conversion which strips out all the big bits to make a reduced size site suitable for viewing on mobiles. Copy this link into your mobile browser faves and the normal fjgirls.com website will be converted to something that is easier to use on mobiles. FJ Girls Mobile Site Converter. The main page of the site has had some minor changes so that more information appears on the mobile version.
Also looking at doing more updates throughout the day whilst travelling around London during the day time. Shorter posts but right up to the minute. Again something that is being looked into as to how it can be done. text is easy, pics and vids not so.
