We have some seriously big names here, Eminem who is rated on this site as a musical genius, Rihanna who is one of the IT Girls of our time in the music world and another IT Girl Megan Fox features in this video. We have some serious weight here, the song we did rate without the video as 3 and half stars and a lot of plus signs so knocking on the door of 4, lets put this through the critical demolition process and see if we have anything worth talking about here???
The Verdict:
First off the video! Eminem, Rihanna on vocals and Megan Fox featuring on out takes, film clips, it’s passionate, violent in places, intense and for all that strangely beautiful as well, it fits the song a treat, we doubt if it could be done any better by anybody else and one of the top vids of the year as good as the Eminem “Not Afraid” vid. You could say it’s slightly depressing but its never the less good for it.
Onto the song. Strong powerful emotional lyrics, a song that has been played by the owner of this site over and over and over again and it stills sounds superb which means it has superb longevity the mark of a timeless classic. The Rihanna and Eminem vocal mix works brilliantly and their vocal prowess is never in doubt. The song has a very powerful message and is of the very moving variety and the lyrics are fast paced, deep meaninful and involving. We think this is something that will be remembered for a long time to come and one that people will play many years down the line when you are going through a powerful relationship situation which marks the song out ahead of we would say 95% of the material we have heard so far this year. Its got bite and clout!
The highest rating we have given for any song on this site so far is 4 stars ++++ , a couple have achieved this they are technically superb songs. To get beyond that the song has to have a very strong message and the power to move and something that is not easily forgotten. This song we think is higher than a 4. This song is incredibly good but not perfect that would be 5 stars, those sort of songs come along a couple of times in a generation and become all time classics played many decades after release. Final Rating 4 and half stars out of a possible 5. The highest rating that has ever been given so far on this site!
