Kim Clijsters had a bit of a long battle on her hand when she played the 2010 French Open runner up Samantha Stosur from Australia with the match heading into 3 set territory but this 2009 current US Open title holder showed her true colours and came through to claim her place in the semi finals with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 victory. Mid match photos really do demonstrate Klijsters is hell bent on winning this again and during the match the normally off court angelic looking Belgium girl transforms into something that looks very intimidating indeed and not of the easily beaten look. Why does this photo below look like somebody that is going to win this event…………..she’s got the winners eye?

Venus Williams had a slightly easier time with a 2 set victory over the 2010 French open winner Francesca Schiavone by winning 7-6, 6-4, not a massacre, but convincing enough to show that Venus still has what it takes to win this event. She had a terrible Wimbledon this year and suffered badly along with another top name Jelena Jankovic who had to retire due to injuries, but she’s back and she is flying. It’s the ability to pick yourself up and dust yourself off and keep going that marks a true champion. Venus is in with a chance to claim this crown from Clijsters, she’s been there before our only concern is Wozniacki with her slightly changed tactics and her demolition of non other than Sharapova in the pre quarter finals, she’s looking very good indeed and our money is on a Clijsters-Wozniacki showdown, but this event is still wide open!
