M.I.A of “Paper Planes” fame amongst other tunes was at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on Saturday for the Virgin Mobile FreeFest which had a mass turnout of 40,000 people to this all free live shindig. Ludacris was also at the event.

The event was in aid of “youth homelessness” and although it was free it was a sort of unspoken given that it would be apreciated if you could donate a few coppers to help out those less fortunate than yourself. People who donated five dollars or more got a mashup of the whole event mixed by DJ Rosko. MIA is also rumoured to be performing a free show for New Yorkers as a sort of payback for her earlier performance this year at the Hard NYC event on Grosvenors Island where she had to bail out of her live performance early for fear of being electrocuted due to a thunderstorm. Hats off to M.I.A for the free gesture.
