Pamela Anderson was in town over the weekend and helped celebrate Peta’s 30th Anniversary in Hollywood. Alec Baldwin hosted the special awards evening and amongst celebrity supporters line up was Iggy Pop, Eva Mendes, Anjelica Houston and Kelly Osbourne. These are the people that were pretty heated about the Lady GaGa meaty bikini shot on the front cover of a Jap mag.

PETA are famous for the “I’d rather go naked than wear fur campaign” in which Pamela Anderson did indeed go naked in the past to show her support of this organisation much to the delight of a lot of people. As far as we could gather there were no meaty dresses or even meaty bikinis at this event and come to think of it we have no trace of Lady GaGa either. Wonder why?

Jessica Alba also seems to be trending news wise with her recent role in Machete and that nude scene. She’s celebrity of the month material for sure, nude or not, she hasn’t been female celebrity of the month on this site at all which is surprising……………could October be the month of the Alba?.

Last but not least Kim Kardashian, she’s always in the news but this month is her birthday and also this could mark the launching of our new KK fan site which has been on the backburner for some time and has over 700 members on the forum and is not even fully live yet, it would make a very logical choice to get our new KK fan site off to a flying start?

Remember October being the month of hell last year, murders for us here at this end, absolute heaven if you are out there at the receiving end. Whoever will be Female Celebrity of the Month it will be a busy month regardless!

If they do what do they look like, what do they dress up in and do they have the pom poms or do they use something else. Zola Jesus has a new single out next week called “Sea Talk” brought to our attention by Something for The Weekend. Zola Jesus………..a rather religious sounding name………..did this song have yours truly muttering some religious words whilst putting it through the critical mangle or were we too busy watching the video progress bar?

The Video.

DO NOT adjust your TV!!!!!!!!!!!!  The initial reaction to this song was Zola Who? The video starts with a bang, dark, moody, atmospheric and black and white which is always good for that sort of moody thing, some maybe accidental idea rips from the film “The Ring” (the American not original Jap version) starring Naomi Watts……you almost expect something other worldly to come out of that retro TV screen or for her to get sucked in on the other side! Superb video and excellent match to the song and we are off to a flying start.

The Song

The 20 second rule! That’s all we need to say on this song, starts with a bang just like the video, dark, moody, intense, powerful atmospheric synth backing, prominent what we call reverse percussion with in your face detailing and Zola Jesus powering her way effortlessly through this dramatic musical landscape without batting an eyelid……….impressive! “Stone Me” were the words muttered here after 12 seconds whilst being blasted back against the wall hanging onto any nearby furniture available! Limited lyrics on this and this ordinarily could be a serious mark down but you could take the lyrics out of this song and we still think this has something serious going on here the mark of a good song, vocals it goes without saying from Zola are something else……….incredibly original sounding, sophisticated rich and low. Very strong technicals on display here all blended together to provide a powerful music ensemble. This song really does stand out amongst the conveyor belt of also ran pop moving through at this present moment in time!

“OK kids, sounds like joy division atmosphere mashed up with some Cocteau twins, add a dash of Toni Childs. Love it all the same…”

“There is an oxymoronic gloomy optimism to this swinging eighties tinged track, taken from the Album Stridulum II. Zola’s deep, unwavering vocal performance would make it the ideal accompaniment to a cinematic climax, in the manner of Echo and The Bunnymen’s…..The Killing Moon Rating 4.5 out of 5″

Yuo’re not wrong there. Loads of positives on this song, the negatives are the originality you could say is harking back to the 80’s but then you could say a similar thing about Amy Winehouse and her back in time sound…………….and look how big she is! This song will not be for everybody possibly too gloomy it’s hardly “Tennage Dream” by Katy Perry that’s sunshine all the way. The retro 80’s power synth could be wasted on others but this song could surprise in the charts as in No1 or it could struggle to hit the Top 20. When songs are this good that’s just the way it pans out. 6 weeks at No2 we reckon is where it could be heading, that’s where incredibly good and original songs end up annoyingly pipped to No1 by the usual media hyped pop bland commercial efforts.

Rating? Not in the same league as “Love The Way You Lie” by Eminem and Rihanna with Megan Fox on video, that was something else, but we would say on a par with Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” which we rated as a superb 4 stars++++++. This song is easily  more of the same. There really is a hell of a lot of talent here, its nudging 4 and half stars……..it’s very very close. Rating 4 Stars++++++. Halle Berry was spotted recently in LA looking to be busy and on a mission, a photo that stuck out on our feed for some reason, we thought we would investigate further and see what is going down in Halle Berry land.

Oscar winning actress and Hollywood beauty Halle Berry got a facial while in Beverly Hills, CA on September 23rd, 2010. She is just back in the U.S. after filming in Europe and South Africa and making a romantic connection with Dark Tide co-star Olivier Martinez. Fame Pictures, Inc

She’s had a ‘bit of a year’ love life wise and has been a gossip bloggers dream but we will be looking at what is happening in her life career wise as her love life is now ancient ‘goss’ news. It’s been done……………….no point doing it again!

Her filming schedule diary looks to be getting full with her filming for a recent starring role in the film ‘Dark Tide’ which co stars her onscreen as well as off screen beau Olivier Martinez. The film is a thriller centered on a diving instructor who returns to deep waters after a near-fatal encounter with a Great White shark and Halle Berry dons a wet suit and swims with these Great White’s, hats off to her! According to IMDB this film is now in post production.

Recent movie rumour rumbles are saying that she could be shortlisted for a role in the new film called ‘Cloud Atlas’ which is based on the book ‘Cloud Atlas’ A novel’ by Brit author David Mitchell. Tom Hanks, Natalie Portman And Halle Berry all signed up for film earlier this year. With this sort of actor/actress presence this film and Halle are worth keeping a closer eye on!

Got a lot of respect for this actress as the sign of an incredibly good one is the ability to span across many film categories and not be typecast as her incredibly varied film CV demonstrates.

The Vanidades 50th Anniversary Gala was held last night which celebrated the special milestone of this magazine turning 50 years old. What is Vanidades? Vanidades is the first and most widely read Spanish-Language Women’s lifestyle magazine in the United States and Latin America. The event was held at Trump SoHo in New York. As you would expect some latin stunners attended this event including Daisy Fuentes and Gloria Estefan.
