ARCHIVE NEWs: M.I.A who famously performed live at the Grammy Awards pregnant and was pretty much on the verge of “giving birth” at the awards, as she had the baby on Feb 11th. The headline though is Ickitt. Now the media have some how got hold of this name as to what M.I.A had called her new baby. Here’s what M.I.A had to say about this on her My Space, she does not mince her words!

“MY BABY IS NOT CALLED ICKITT, PICKIT OR LICKIT THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL THE HOLLYWOOD PRESS. HES A BABY , HE DONT NEED PRESS!

I DIDNT RELEASE THE BABY NAME BECAUSE I DIDNT THINK IT WAS NEWS!!!!

BUT I WILL BE BACK WITH SOMETHING NEWS WORTHY SOON , TILL THEN GO PICK ON APPLE, SATCHEL AND MOON UNIT.

LOTS OF LOVE STICKIT!! ”

All we have to say is, and we are using her spelling of the name here, she has not denied that her baby might be called Tickit or even Nickit and we won’t even mention Kickit!

ARCHIVE NEWS: Amy Winehouse is hitting the headlines yet again but this one is a bit more unusual, its not about her love life, partying, latest 3am street escapades or right handers in the middle of music festivals, no….. this is about stray dogs?

 She’s currently in St Lucia and you could say living there. But what has stray dogs got to do with Amy Winehouse? Well she’s apparently getting a “bit of a thing” for stray dogs. It started off with 1, then 2 and now by all accounts we are up to 5 or even maybe 6 . This is what a source told the Sun Newspaper.

“Management initially turned a blind eye to what Amy was doing. But she’s adopted about five or six dogs now. They’re all strays, without the proper vaccinations and they all have fleas.”

Hotel staff have had to fumigate Amy’s pad and ban her from adopting any more stray dogs. Needless to say Amy is not too happy and neither are the pooches. So no more stray dogs for Amy ……………………but what about stray cats?

Nicki Minaj is buzzing on the news wires at the moment, she has a new number out called Check It Out, she performed it live with her feat Will.I.Am on Letterman recently lets see if this song and this Rap Barbie justifies the media buzz it’s creating?

The Video

The video is typical of all her vids, glossy, colourful with plenty of emphasis on those Minaj hips and making sure she manages to get at least 2 wig changes in. Is it us or is the lip sync seriously out on this? Pretty good is our verdict although ‘Your Love’ was better , even had a plot line….a music video with a plot line………….classic!

The Song

This song has some input from Will.I.Am so on paper should be decent. 20 seconds in though and our worst fears are confirmed and she’s ditched the ‘Your Love’ decent formula and we have slipped back into the bubblegum rap scenario. There was repetition on ‘Your Love’ but it didn’t grate, with this song it does. 50 airplays of this number and you’ll be sick of it. Musical technicals are average at best. Apparently this song is a reworking of an old tune by Buggles called Video killed the radio star so the originality sort of goes out of the window as it’s strikingly similar ………..not good!

On the plus side it’s a happy incredibly catchy number and would go as far as to say this is preferred to Cheryl Cole’s new number but at least that had some originality to it.

All in all we are back in bubblegum territory with this song and the rating is 2 and a half stars at best!

Chart Prediction

Could do shockingly well despite our review and the Will.I.Am presence helps even more.

After her recent success in the West End Play ‘The Misanthrope’ Keira Knightley is set to appear in a new West End Lillian Hellman Production called ‘The Children’s Hour’ and recent news has added a new co star in the form of Elisabeth Moss according to Variety.com

Keira, also as announced in last nights Evening Standard is up for the Theatre Award the Natasha Richardson Award for Best Actress for her recent performance in The Misanthrope. She’s got her work cut out though as she is up against other actresses that have taken the board treading route including Judi Dench in A Midsummer Nights Dream and Gemma Arterton in The Little Dog Laughed. Amanda Lawrence in Henry VIII, Nancy Carroll in After The Dance, Tamsin Greig in The Little Dog Laughed and Jenny Jules in Ruined add even more competition from the more traditional thespian quarters.

Keira Knightley is another female star that could be up for female celebrity of the month in November. More news on that later this week!

There has been a massive shake up in women’s tennis with regards to rankings, some would say it’s not before time, others would say “yes but would they be there if Serena Williams was not injured? Either way Caroline Wozniacki is dominating the proceedings and quite rightly so leading by over 1000 points. The surprise or not is Vera Zvonereva the relative newcomer is now World ranked No2 and Serena Williams is slipping fast and is now World Ranked No3. Her sister Venus is also on the slide and ranked no5. Wozniacki is pictured below looking very much No1 material at the WTA Event preview held in Doha where most of the top name stars were present, we think she has this season pretty much wrapped up and will remain the World No1 regardless of what the world of tennis can throw at her, she could go out in the  first round and it wouldn’t make much of a difference. Serena Williams will be back next season, she’s a Grand Slams girl, the smaller events don’t seem to hold so much interest at the back end of the season for her unless they are before the big 4 events then they are used at competitive training. Interesting season next year in Womens’ tennis with much needed new blood entering the fray, will the Williams sisters be back next year and continue to run the show or will names like Wozniacki, Zvonereva and Clijsters be taking over?
