But what makes a good acceptance speech especially when you are standing there with a gold statue in your hand that weighs a ton and is being beamed live all around the globe- what the hell do you say?

That podium is quite a pressured place to be and forgetting the hundreds of millions of viewers on TV, the hardest bit is just looking at that audience and the whole of Hollywood is staring back at you, it then hits you like a bolt of lightning what you have achieved and no amount of rehearsing can prepare you for that situation.

The speeches seem to be one or a combination of the following as a result of that shock bolt of lightning as follows.

Justin Bieber along with Selena Gomez in our opinion grab the headline for the 83rd Academy awards Vanity Fair After Party hosted by Graydon Carter. This is the commercial official after party and is attended by most of the people that were at The Oscars with names such as Anne Hathaway the show presenter, Cameron Diaz, Colin Firth Oscar winner, Diana Agron, Eva Mendes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Helena Bonham Carter, Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake, Kate Beckinsale, Madonna, Mick Jagger, Natalie Portman, Quentin Tarantino, Reese Witherspoon and the list goes on, full guest list below. Elton John  was at this event and he is famous for holding the competing party to this Vanity Fair Event called The Elton John Aids Foundation Trust Oscars After Party which is slightly more chilled, more on that later.

The 83rd Academy Awards were held last night at the Kodak Theatre in LA and Hollywood in that area turned into one massive sea of red carpet with masses of screaming in the background with a huge quantity of stars gracing their presence on that carpet, anybody who was anybody in Hollywood was there at the event, you couldn’t afford not to be there. Sandra Bullock last years Oscar winner was at the event and her interview is below and she grabs the headline with a few words on what its like to be at the event..

Red Carpet interviews at the Academy awards event are normally very quick chit chat sort of affairs, no in depth interviews here otherwise you will miss the other 50 stars that have just walked past, but they do give you an idea of what a star is like off the silver screen and gives you an idea of what it’s like at the event and the general vibe.  The first of many red carpet interview videos arriving on You Tube!

You could say justice was done last night and Natalie Portman quite rightly claimed the Best Actress Award last night at the 83rd Academy awards for her role in the critically acclaimed and award winning “Black Swan” and was Queen of the show. This is something she had to win, it would have looked very bad indeed if she didn’t win this and we think the Academy awards were aware of that fact so did the unavoidable snub on Helena Bonham Carter instead who they know will have her day again in the future.

Natalie Portman Red Carpet Interview 83rd Academy Awards

As everybody is aware you can win a Tony, a SAG or even a Golden Globe or a BAFTA but to win an Academy Award or an Oscar Golden Statue you know you have made it in acting terms as The Academy Awards are incredibly fussy who they give these two and this award is highly respected within film circles and does enhance your career no end.  It doesn’t enhance it  immediately it has to be said, but years in the future that Oscar win is never forgotten in the film industry and is never forgotten at the man in the street level either and puts you up there in the higher echelons of the acting world and that’s somewhere Natalie Portman needs to be..

The 83rd Academy Awards were held last night  at the Kodak Theatre on February 27, 2011 in Hollywood, California, the biggest and most prestigious award ceremony in the film award season calendar. Colin Firth did the deed and rightfully claimed his Golden Statue for his role in the Kings Speech did a decent acceptance speech laced with wit and that film dominated the proceedings at the event.

For Helena Bonham Carter though it wasn’t to be and has surprised the media and us here but Melissa Leo claimed the best supporting actress gong but she played an important role in the superb film “the Fighter” and the Academy awards felt that the award should go to her even if she did use “The F word” in her acceptance speech, she’ll remember for that for a long long time to come., it’s a deserved win as she is a decent actress. Best Supporting actor also went to Christian Bale who also appeared in the same film again a deserved win. Natalie Portman won the Best Actress Award, out of the whole nomination line up she had to win that thing and in our opinion she was the best performance out of all the nominations at this event. See separate article for more information on the Portman win. Inception seemed to clean up on the Technical Awards and Social Network in a word bombed not impressing the Academy Awards at all but did come out with one statue, a “Best soundtrack” Award..

Will Natalie Portman win The Best actress Oscar? A closer look!

The Academy Awards are tonight, arguably the biggest event of the year in the film calendar, most would say there is no argument. The Best Actor Award we think will more than likely go to Colin Firth and the Best Supporting Actress to Helena Bonham Carter who both starred in the film “The Kings Speech” but as always things are not cast in stone when it comes to these things. Those actors/actresses are not our concern, our concern though is Natalie Portman and her nomination for the Best Actress Award and whether she will win it or not and it’s personally something I have some strong views on!

In the run up to this mammoth event that is called “The Academy Awards”, Portman has been getting the nod and mopping up those gongs across the board  and these are well deserved wins. So why the concern as to whether she will win the Academy Award for Best actress, surely it’s a cert? Sometimes winning masses of awards at all the award ceremonies and dominating the headlines leading up to the Oscars is not such a good thing as the Academy Awards are renowned for “snubs” and not following the herd when it comes to giving out there prestigious golden statue. Granted they do watch the build up and who wins at say The Golden Globes, BAFTA’s and SAG’s amongst others but they do not allow those wins to influence their decision. They may annoyingly just pick somebody else just to illustrate that fact that their award is an elite one to win and what happens prior to this event has no bearing on who will win at the Academy Awards itself.

Cheryl Cole lands in LA and the X Factor vocal training rumours?

Cheryl Cole in Black and Red

Cheryl Cole in Black and Red

Cheryl Cole has recently landed in LA and although the main headline on everybody’s mind is the Academy Awards just days away we don’t think she is there for that. We don’t think she is working on a third album that’s too soon after the second.

The headline hitting the wires is she is over in LA to talk about this US X Factor judge position which has been on and off now for some time and is still to be confirmed if at all.

The rumoured reason for her visit is to have talks with Simon Cowell concerning US X Factor judging with the condition she takes vocal training to turn her northern twang to something more American sounding so that they can understand her.
