No Sacha Baron Cohen landing on Eminem this year, that’s a tough one to follow but here’s a closer look at what actually happened at the 2011 MTV Awards Show with some photos of the stars at the show receiving awards and other wackier things that go on at this event.
With a set comprised of a ring of fake grass, crystal towers, led lights, caves, glittery hangy stuff and other bits and bobs dangling here and there the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Theatre went all out on this one to create the fantasy vibe and set the tone for the event.
Jason Sudeikis was the opening host and opened by rattling off some Arnold Schwarzenegger jokes that were pushing the naughty boundaries just a bit a sample of one was aimed at the balcony audience saying “they were fathered by the former governor”. Couldn’t quite gather what the reply was they looked too stunned?

Moving swiftly on Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake famous for their recent antics on set on the film “Friends With Benefits” continued the naughty theme by grabbing each other’s private parts and attempting to present the Best Male Performance award to Robert Pattinson. Mila Kunis from what we could see didn’t seem to be complaining?

Rafael Nadal beats Roger Federer to claim the 2011 Mens French Open Title!
Rafael Nadal French Open
World No3 Roger Federer who defeated the World No2 Djokovic to reach the finals faced the World Number 1 Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros in Paris today to contest the Mens Final and claim the trophy for the Mens 2011 French Open Title.
In the Blue corner: Rafael Nadal the noisy in play Spaniard and World No1 who knows only too well his opponent as they have faced each other many times in the past. Loves to play on Clay and is difficult to beat on this surface.
In the Red Corner: Roger Federer the Swiss.. Former World No1 currently slightly off form for a season or so and has slipped to (for him) a lowly 3rd Highest in the World but looks to be steadily returning to form this season and is in the unusual position for him of being the underdog in this final. Ice cool on court and methodical and level headed in play.
Nadal was under a lot of presuure not only to claim the title but also if he did win this event he would keep his world No1 standing but if he lost against Federer he would be World No2 and Djokovic would claim the world No1 status. A lot at stake for both players here and the perfect battle but Nadal had more to lose than Federer.
A strong start from Federer with 3-0 being the outcome in the early stages of the first set. Nadal on the open here reminded us of the days past when Federer was the undisputed and virtually unbeatable No1 and Nadal always had to settle for No2.. Federer is coming from an underdog position this year though and new that he had to get an early lead to retain control of the match. This he achieved in the 2/3rds of the first set leading by 5-2 but started to make errors near the tail end of this set and alllowing Nadal to claw his way back and ended up turning the tables to win the first set 7-5.
