Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis and the 2011 MTV Awards. Show Highlights with Photos and Videos !

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis

No Sacha Baron Cohen  landing on Eminem this year, that’s a tough one to follow but here’s a closer look at what actually happened at the 2011 MTV Awards Show with some photos of the stars at the show receiving awards and other wackier things that go on at this event.

With a set comprised of a  ring of fake grass, crystal towers, led lights, caves, glittery hangy stuff and other bits and bobs dangling here and there the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Theatre  went all out on this one to create the fantasy vibe and set the tone for the event.

Jason Sudeikis was the opening host and opened by rattling off some  Arnold Schwarzenegger jokes that were pushing the naughty boundaries just a bit a sample of one  was aimed at the balcony audience saying “they were fathered by the former governor”. Couldn’t quite gather what the reply was they looked too stunned?

2011 MTV Movie Awards Show Highlights Photos

Moving swiftly on  Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake famous for their recent antics on set on the film  “Friends With Benefits”   continued the naughty theme by  grabbing each other’s private parts and attempting to present  the Best Male Performance award to Robert Pattinson. Mila Kunis from what we could see didn’t seem to be complaining?

Being billed by Famefad as the exact opposite of the Academy awards the 2011 MTV Movie Awards is of course about the awards and those golden popcorn bucket things  but in reality it’s what goes on at the event and show and who is  hitting the red carpet in style and who is not, that’s where it’s at. Massive turnout for this event as you would expect  Sacha Baron Cohen landing on Eminem in the audience and Eminem then storming out was one of the highlight of recent years. Check our details on the show and photo highlights coming up later for more info on that!

2011 MTV Music Awards Red Carpet Arrivals Part 1 286 photos at release

Top names on the red carpet  included Bryce Dallas Howard, Brooklyn Decker,  Chelsea Handler, Emma Stone, Emma Watson (Award via film). Jim Carrey, Jessica Szohr. Kristen Stewart (award), Leighton Meester, Nicki Reed, Reese Witherspoon (Award winner), Ryan Reynolds, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Taylor Lautner,  and Selena Gomez and stacks more get the full arrivals list at the foot of this article.

According to our supposed new fashion correspondent BitchyBabe? (FJ really hasn;t got a clue) she reckons Rosie Huntington Whitely was off the mark a bit considering she’s voted World No1 sexiest woman (competing with her dress?) and Leighton Meester was a bit “that old fashioned  wallpaper” looking………ouch?. It was pointed out that Leighton Meester does tend to lean towards the more adventurous end of the colour spectrum on the red carpet and manages to pull it off in her defence. The reply from BitchyBabe  was “hmmmm…….but not this time”

On a more positive note  Krsiten Stewart, Reese Witherspoon and Emma Watson were on the money and getting the thumbs up four thumbs up on their red carpet presence. We’re not a fashion blog and never will be, we’ll leave that to the fashionistas but you can have a laugh trying. Rafael Nadal beats Roger Federer to claim the 2011 Mens French Open Title!

Rafael Nadal French Open

Rafael Nadal French Open

World No3 Roger Federer who defeated the World No2 Djokovic to reach the finals faced the World Number  1 Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros in Paris today to contest the Mens Final and claim the trophy for the Mens 2011 French Open Title.

In the Blue corner: Rafael Nadal the noisy in play Spaniard and World No1 who knows only too well his opponent as they have faced each other many times in the past. Loves to play on Clay and is difficult to beat on this surface.

In the Red Corner: Roger Federer the Swiss.. Former World No1 currently slightly  off form for a season or so and has slipped to (for him) a lowly 3rd Highest in the World but looks to be steadily returning to form this season and is in the unusual position for him of being the underdog in this final. Ice cool on court and methodical and level headed in play.

Nadal was under a lot of presuure not only to claim the title but also if he did win this event he would keep his world No1 standing but if he lost against Federer he would be World No2 and Djokovic would claim the world No1 status. A lot at stake for both players here and the perfect battle but Nadal had more to lose than Federer.

A strong start from Federer with 3-0 being the outcome in the early stages of the first set. Nadal on the open here reminded us of the days past when Federer was the undisputed and virtually unbeatable No1 and Nadal always had to settle for No2.. Federer is coming from an underdog position this year though and new that he had to get an early lead to retain control of the match. This he achieved in the 2/3rds of the first set leading by 5-2 but started to make errors near the tail end of this set and alllowing Nadal to claw his way back and ended up turning the tables to win the first set 7-5.

Nicole Scherzinger performs "Right There" Live on Britains Got Talent. Video!

Don’t normally post on a Sunday unless it’s exceptional BUT Nicole Scherzinger performed “Right There” live on Britain’s Got Talent last night and managed to get someone up at some unearthly hour ON A SUNDAY for crying out loud, to get this post out whilst the video is still fresh and steaming. If you are in the UK chances are you’ve probably seen this but it’s aimed at those outside the UK who probably haven’t. No messing live here from Nicole……….as it should be . Enjoy!

Li Na beats Francesca Schiavone to claim the Womens 2011 French Open Title!

The 2011 Women’s French Open took place today at Roland Garros and Francesca Schiavone and Li Na were set to battle it out for this coveted Grand Slam title, one of only 4 in the professional  tennis season.

In the red corner we have  defending champion Italian Schiavone who could be set to  become only the sixth woman to retain the French Open title since tennis turned professional in 1968. Margaret Smith Court, Chris Evert, Steffi Graf, Monica Seles and Justine Henin are the others

In the blue corner we have Li Na the 29-year-old underdog who  is bidding to become the first Asian Woman to win a Grand Slam title.

Li Na had this to say before the event.

”I never feel the pressure. If someone can stay behind you, push you a lot, it’s good…………..I like that.”

The Final How things progressed.

X Men First Class and this weeks film reviews. The Good. The Average and The Grim!

X Men First Class

X Men First Class

A quick summary of this weeks films  taking a closer look at things like who stars in the films, plot (if there is one) characters and general film vibe with of course the all important rating. Is it worth venturing to the cinema this weekend or are you better off sticking some bangers on the barbie and have a can of fosters with your mates in the back garden and annoy the hell out of the neighbours with some loud background music. These films are going to have to be good to compete with an evening like that so what have we got.  We have Last Night, Screwed, Senna, X Men First Class,  and finally Prom.

Reviews are courtesy Alex Zane of the Sun with a dash of extras from a certain celebrity blogger at this end. Lets find out The good, The Average and The Grim? Click on link for trailer to form your own opinion.

Last Night. This film has got Keira Knightley in it that alone has got to be worth a look and also stars Sam Neil. Also stars Eva Mendes. Basically it’s all about infidelity in couples and the film revolves around Joanna (Keira Knightley) sussing out that husband Michael (Sam Neil) has got the hots for a work colleague  called Laura (Eva Mendes). It sounds great but as Alex Zane mentions after about two thirds of the way through you just begin to start screaming out  “oh for gods sake dive in the sack together and get it over with”. Underwhelming is the word used for this film, could have been saucier especially with the female leads here  but it isn’t and they are incredibly underutilized. Rating 2 stars
