A Better Life. A tale of Mexican immigrants living the American dream and crossing the border to find work only to find the dream is not all it’s cracked up to be. A Chris Weitz directed film who also directed “About A Boy” Carlos Galindo is a hardworking gardener in LA who’s wife has recently left him and will do anything to support his 14 year old son called Luis.Temptations are many in the City of Angels and Luis succumbs to temptation and the life that the many street gangs offer.Eventually things turn for the good and Luis and his father Carlos form an alliance to make a successful business. .The film is a good insight into the many problems faced by immigrants in America but the script is weak which hampers the performance of otherwise decent actors making them seem a bit clumsy. Still coming out as a reasonable 3 stars.
