The Harry Potter The Deathly Hallows Part 2 the 8th and last film has it’s world premiere on Thursday in what looks to be Leicester Square this is a closer look at what it takes to be a Harry Potter fan. Please note that this has been written by somebody who is not a Harry Potter fan so it’s sort of on the outside looking in. Lord of the Rings was more my thing!

Harry Potter Fans in Trafalgar Square in Central London
Fans have already started setting up camp since this morning and are at Trafalgar Square at the North End in 2 separate areas shown by these 2 photos. As it was dead on Twitter I logged off at about half 3 and out of sheer morbid curiosity headed down to Trafalgar Square to see how these Harry Potter fans are doing and also to answer that burning question “what does a Harry Potter fan look like?”
I was expecting 10-16 year olds but was greeted by about 100 fans of all ages. Tents were down but will probably be up later tonight especially as the forecast is rain. So basically they will be there al day Tuesday and Tuesday Night, All day Wednesday and Wednesday night then will probably move to Leicester Square to claim their prime positions for the premiere on Thursday morning. Then they have to wait till about 4pm when things should start happening. Was considering having a chat with some of them but had to be somewhere else.

Hats off to these fans. Rather them than me though!
Will Famefad be at the Harry Potter premiere? Being a long suffering premiere goer from the past and knowing that the big ones are a supreme pain in the rear quarters the answer is probably NO. From past experience the good spots unless you get there before 9am or earlier will be gone you’ll just be left holding a camera or phone in the air, you can get some good shots that way if you know what you’re doing but I think I’ll pass on that.
The other option is the press pit. Have the credentials to be able to get in there but again this ones big and trying to get at the front will be a lottery. Again the press guys will be there early which means more than likely step ladders to get good shots without photogs heads in the way. The answer again is No thanks. It’s being broadcast live on You Tube at http://youtube.com/harrypotter and that’s where I think yours truly will be and we’ll get the photos from the professionals. Saves lugging step ladders around central London! If it was at Westfield that’s a whole different ball game and would probably consider going but Leicester Square on a potentially rainy day, I think not. Will take a look though on the day though and see whether it’s worth trying but shots if they happen will be via mobile!
