The Saturdays 'All Fired Up' Official Video and Verdict!

The Saturdays premiered their official video yesterday, the news was filling up my timeline on Twitter and the link was put out on our page at that time from their official Twitter. Thought I’d give it 24 hours to let the dust settle, play it cool and then take a closer look via this blog and see what the fuss is all about. Is this new number a hype job or are we talking decent??

The Verdict: Starting off with the video you’ve got 5 cracking girls here that need some superior showcasing and something that matches the vibe of this song. We have a challenge. This video it has to be said is ‘spot on the money’ and it’s “job done” Very good indeed!

Onto the song,

Mary J Blige and new single 'Living Proof' taken from 'The Help' Movie. Official Video and Verdict!

Just out yesterday a new number from Mary J Blige who has been honoured with singing this theme song for the recently premiered film “The Help” that is coming out as critcally decent. This number is called ‘Living Proof’. Got a lot of respect for Mary J Blige, she’s stood the test of time and just listening to her belting out these lyrics to this song you cannot deny she’s up there with the best. Effortless presence and delivery. Mary J Blige will probably be around for years to come as well, how many of the recent crop of new headlining artists will be able to say that in say a couple of years time?

Supreme talent always wins at the end of the day and this lady has it in shed loads and then some. A slightly sad and traditional sounding number you could say to match a 1960′s themed film. Mary J Blige is a superb choice to deliver this. I also think Adele would be superb, can see her belting this out, it’s right up her street! A simple but powerful number and rated very highly indeed at this end. Quality!

Jessie J new single 'Who's Laughing Now' Official Video and Verdict!

Just out on You Tube ‘ via the Jessie J Vevo channel is ‘Who’s Laughing Now’ which is the fourth offering from the Jessie J Album “Who You Are”. Heartbeats as her fans are called will have probably seen this 10 seconds after release (believe me I know) but for those who are not hardcore Jessie J fans… this is for you.

Verdict: This song is basically s supreme middle finger to the in word at the moment “haters” and it does a pretty good job of it with that word even mentioned in the song. Cher Lloyd will probably like this number, especially relevant with her being No1 in the charts…….can see her bopping to this one laughing her head off! The song for us is the slightly above OK category, it sounds a bit albumish and not singleish with the other minor niggle being the song just sounds a bit thin musically somewhere, where I can’t put my finger on, more mid range maybe? but the Jes vocals are as usual incredibly high in quality and the lyrics are very good………….there’s a strong message here and I like songs that have messages otherwise what’s the point!

Chart prediction:She’s on a major roll this one, No1 if not definitely Top 10. This video in particular will strike a chord with her fan base quite strongly and that probably was the intention probably gleaned from her interactions via social media. Very clever indeed!

Emma Stone and "The Help" Premiere. LA!

Emma Stone

Emma Stone

Emma Stone and a host of stars were at the Premiere of the DreamWorks Pictures’ “The Help” last night held at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Samuel Goldwyn Theater  in Beverly Hills. This film is billed as a  drama and is set in the 1960s and we would say that this is probably aimed at a higher brow market.

Good to see something that isn’t a rom com. It has to be said, I’m getting a bit sick of rom com’s, I mean really sick of them. Why they keep making them is beyond me,  most of them are not really that funny , 9 times out of 10 they never do well at the box office , probably due to every other film being a rom com these days. Anyway, that out of the way,  this non rom com drama is based on Kathryn Stockett’s 2009 novel of the same name  and is directed by Tate Taylor making a directorial debut with this offering.. Normally films that are based on a book, if the adaptation is effective, they  tend to do very well, of course depending on the book they are based upon!

David Guetta new number ' I Can Only Imagine' feat Chris Brown & Lil Wayne. A closer look!

David Guetta has yet another new number out called ‘I can Only Imagine’ with a feat of Chris Brown and Lil Wayne currently out in Audio form only. Ah dear…………. is it same old same old or something new and shiny!?

Verdict: Don’t get me wrong some of David Guetta’s stuff is very good indeed with some feats in the past including Kelly Rowland (twice and both good) and Kid Cudi hitting the spot very nicely and utilising those talents very well indeed. This one I just think it’s a waste of Chris Brown and Lil Wayne. Could have done more with this and not one of Mr Guetta’s best, he is capable of much better. There’s a compliment in there somewhere? Alright for a bop down the local club on a Friday night I suppose! Play it 50 times and throw away is the final verdict. In London it would be classed as “alwight” and that’s with a small a,  not a big one!

Sugababes new 'Freedom' Official Video and Behind The Scenes!

The Sugababes new single called ‘Freedom’ has come out on Official Video currently at the time of writing about 12 hours old. They have been away a while but now are back and they need something to get them back on track and make the competition sit up and take notice. This ‘Freedom’ number looks like it does that job very well indeed.

With the change of line up a while back including Jade Ewen who proved her vocally strong credentials in the Euro-vision song contest at that time with looks to match, it looks like the 3 girls which also include Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range have vocally gelled and they sound very good indeed. Rate this song, not so sure about the vid, a bit of daylight here and there would help matters just a tad? Chart wise really don’t know on this one, would personally like to see it go to No1 as there is talent here, really depends on what’s out there at the time, but it’s certainly got that big No1 sound and the general vibe in music and media circles is thumbs up! We like!

Some bonus on set behind the scenes stuff on how this video was made below.

Anne Hathaway was at the premiere of the film  ‘One Day’ last night held at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 theater  in New York City. Anne has the lead role in this along side Jim Sturgess who was also present at this event. Kevin Jonas decided to put in an appearance amongst other stars. Full list at foot of this article. As Hathaway fans are aware she is currently in the process of filming for the latest Batman film The Dark Knight Rises where she plays a super bike riding cat woman but managed to rip off her leathers and do some red carpet dazzling for this film which is in a romance style  and is definitely one for the girls.
