Marion Cotillard and Matt Damon attended the ‘Contagion’ premiere at the Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center  last night in New York. This film had it’s first premiere at the Venice Film Festival just days ago. Get the full details of the film and trailer at that article here.  Matt Damon was sporting a new streamlined aerodynamic look. Maybe he has been having chats with Bruce Willis?

Melissa George

‘A Lonely Place To Die’ had it’s UK premiere today at The Empire in Leicester Square in Central London and this was a small event more like a photo call than a premiere. This film is being billed as a travel horror/thriller. Melissa George the lead actress in this film along with Edward Speleers and Kate Magowan were at the event.

Melissa George has been in a broad range of films including Dark City (1998),  The Limey (1999) and Mulholland Dr. (2001). She’s also appeared in The Amityville Horror (2005) remake, the thriller Turistas (2006), and the vampire horror film 30 Days of Night (2007). She’s not a huge name but I’ve seen her personally in ’30 days of Night’; a bizarre horror and she was pretty good in that one and Mulholland Drive  a superb film and Dark City is another slightly odd but decent film. Lets put it this way, I haven’t seen her in a bad film and she’s a looker for sure!

Matt Smith and the GQ 2011 Men of the Year Awards London. Winners, Event and After Party Photos!

Matt Smith

Matt Smith

The GQ Men of the Year Awards were held last night at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in Central London the same time as the Mercury Music Prize, of the two events, this is where it was at, in terms of celebs putting in an appearance. See previous article for red carpet pics of which Kelly Brook and Emma Watson were hitting the headlines. Daisy Lowe was with her beau,  Mr Dr Who Matt Smith  (above) who won the GQ Actor Award and with her new barnet was getting the serious thumbs up at this end. Make a very good couple these two! Other names included Lily Allen in proud baby bump mode and Marc Ronson well looking like Marc Ronson……….. old mans hair on a young geezer which to put it mildly doesn’t look quite right does it, but each to their own. Alexa Chung was also on form doing her interpretation of where fashion will be in a decades time, she’s light years ahead this one?

That’s the sarcasm out of the way (got to be done), grab the full set of shots actually inside the event of the 2011 GQ Men of the Year Awards as if you were actually there mingling with the stars. Photos
Also see how sober the stars were after the after party event…….that’s got to be worth a look.  GQ 2011 Men of the Year awards After Party Photos

Get the full winners list below which also includes just one woman and that’s Gemma Arterton. We can’t argue with that choice……..spot on…oh yesss!

P J Harvey and the 2011 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize Awards. London!

P J Harvey

P J Harvey

The Mercury Music Awards were held last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane in Central London and supreme talent was rewarded on this night. The Mercury prize is the most coveted award in the UK music industry, chosen by critics and experts on the merit of the music alone, rather than units shifted or hype.

2011 Barclaycard Mercury Prize – Arrivals

P J Harvey who won this award ten years ago at the pinnacle of her career managed to win it again last night………….that’s something else.  She is the first artist to achieve this in the entire history of this music  awards event. This West Country girl can count yours truly as a fan back in the day, that’s saying something.  The music it has to be said is an acquired taste but once hooked it’s addictive stuff and nothing like your mainstream pop with deep quite intensive lyrics and she can do things with a guitar that makes your hair stand on end.

Kelly Brook and the 2011 GQ Men of the Year Awards London. Photos!

Kelly Brook

Kelly Brook

The 2011 GQ Men of the Year Awards were held at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden Central London tonight and although this event is for the lads and awarding outstanding achievements throughout the year as per usual the women dominated the proceedings and grab the headlines for this  red carpet extravaganza. With names such as Daisy Lowe, Abigail Clancy, Alexandra Burke, all the girls from The Saturdays, Emma Watson, Kelly Brook, Leona Lewis, Yasmin Lebon, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Pixie Lott entering the red carpet fray (amongst others) did names such as Bono, Bradley Cooper, Dr Who Man Matt Smith or even Dizzee Rascal get a chance to get a look in at this event?

2011 GQ Men Of The Year Awards  Red Carpet Arrivals Photos

Judging by the headlines pumping out of this event from the UK media, Kelly Brook seems to be grabbing the headlines  with her Hollywood glam look whereas Emma Watson decided to go for the short mini skirt, Louboutins and mini leather jacket look. The vote is out on this one but the Kelly Brook curves just pip Emma to the post for us here, but it was close. Keep your eyes peeled for the winners at this event.

Selma Blair

Selma Blair was at the “Dark Horse” film premiere last night at the 68th Venice film Festival along with Todd Solondz. True to the films title the film appears to be shrowded in mystery with release dates not yet known.  Trailer for this film is also yet another mystery?

“Dark Horse” Premiere – 68th Venice Film Festival >

Plot:
Based on news reports and a press release from October 2010, the film is about Abe, a 30-something male living with his parents, reluctantly working for his father while pursuing his hobby of collecting toys. To lose his “dark horse” status in the family, he’s also trying to spark a relationship with Miranda, who recently moved back home after a failed literary/academic career. Miranda agrees to marry Abe out of desperation, and things go awry from there. The film stars Jordan Gelber, Selma Blair,  Christopher Walken and Mia Farrow. Information courtesy Wiki.

A rumoured end of 2011 release looks possible but is not yet cast in stone. Dark Horse by name and Dark Horse by nature, this film certainly is!
