Matt Cardle and the Regent Street Christmas Lights Switch On. Central London!

Oxford Street had the star studded treatment for the Christmas Lights Switch on the other day with The Saturdays doing the honours and both Westfield Shopping Centres had the Bieber treatment just recently, so  it was the turn of the world famous Regent Street in Central London to have their  Christmas lights turned on with a host of stars adding some glitz to the proceedings. Regent Street was closed down and made traffic free for the event with a crowd of thousands turning up to look on.

It was a Shakira day yesterday in Hollywood with the Hollywood Walk of Fame admitting a a new member on Hollywood Boulevard and honored Shakira with a star on this world famous Boulevard. She joins more than 2400 other stars which are permanent public monuments to achievement in the entertainment industry featuring notable  actors, musicians, directors, producers, musical and theatrical groups, fictional characters, and more. One Direction New Single “Gotta Be You” Official Video and Verdict!

One Direction the very young and fresh boy band have a new single out called “Gotta Be You” which has just come out in official video format a few hours ago on  their Vevo Channel. Is it up to the mark?

The Video. A sort of mini road trip movie condensed into a music video which was apparently filmed in September at New York’s Lake Placid. Does the job and is fairly good if not exceptional..

The Song. Good vocals, lyrics are decent and meaningful, limited repetition but still catchy and decent technicals with a rather unusual classical violin sounding backdrop which works very well with the song.  They are clearly aiming at the teen market but this song has a sound that will have wider appeal, that’s a good song. This is a decent number with the only criticism it’s a bit safe sounding and hardly breaking outside the box into uncharted territory,  but it’s still very good none the less.

The Peoples Choice Award 2012 Nominations have just been announced and this event is now in its 38th year. At the nominations announcement press conference event were names such as Busy Philipps, Elisha Cuthbert, Jennifer Morrison, Joe Jonas,  Julianne Hough, Kaley Cuoco, Mark Burnett and Sharon Osbourne.  Harry Potter seemed to be dominating the nominations at this event!

The Harper’s Bazaar Women Of The Year Awards in association with Estee Lauder and NET-A-PORTER were held last night at the uber swanky Claridges Hotel, Mayfair in London and you could say a few names turned up for this one. Names in attendance included Bianca Jagger, Daisy Lowe, Elle Macpherson, Eva Herzigova, Florence Welch, Jessie J, Judi Dench, Lily Cole, Natalia Vodianova, Roger Taylor, Simon and Yasmin Le Bon, Tracy Emin and Sophie Dahl to name a few. Harper’s Bazaar Women Of the Year Awards 2011 Arrivals Photos

It was a close call against Daisty Lowe but Dame Judi Dench grabs the headline as she  received the prestigious  Lifetime Achievement award from the influential style magazine Harper’s Bazaar. At 76 she is probably best known for her role as M in the Bond films where she plays James Bond’s boss and features in the latest outing now in it’s 23rd version called Skyfall which has just entered it’s early production phase.
