Unless you were asleep hiding under a rock the last week or so most people are aware that Katy Perry and Russell Brand are set to get divorced and that’s official with some websites even showing the divorce document. We were aware of this headline but didn’t run with it  and join the stampede like everybody else as we are not a gossip site but more events focused. BUT this site is about celebrity life and fame culture and divorces and such things do affect the celebrity concerned and they do surface here on this site eventually once 100% confirmed and the dust has settled, even if it is a week or so later.

This is one of those divorces you were half expecting but then again maybe not as People stated in a recent article:

Pals of the exes were surprised about the split, which occurred only 14 months after their fairy-tale wedding. “They were always laughing,” one source told PEOPLE. “They were very affectionate, always holding hands. They seemed like they were really in Love”

The celebrity lifestyle is a tough one for marriage though with long splits being the norm if they are touring and in different fields and this puts pressures on the marriage scenario. At present Brand is keeping a low profile in London and quite rightly so. Fame you could say does come at a heavy price, Kim Kardashian is another name that springs to mind amongst others. No updates have appeared on the Katy Perry Twitter page since 27 December for obvious reasons!

With the divorce news breaking on 30 December (not a good start to 2012) Katy Perry is not one for moping in a corner for months on end, she’s a showbiz girl and the show must go on. Her next public appearance is The People’s Choice Awards which will be held on 11 January next week. All eyes will be on her on the red carpet and also the show and lots of questions obviously spring to mind and she knows this.

The temptation has got to be overwhelming foe a no show, it’s  got to be tough to keep a smile on your face whilst being photographed and broadcast across the nation whilst in this situation. She also knows she can’t let her considerable fan base down either and the moral support will be there if she does show which indeed we think she will. Whether she turns up alone or not is the obvious burning question?
