Previous performers at the Super Bowl, this massive institution of a sports event have included Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson amongst many others. It’s a big deal to get this! The pressure to get this right must be immense with practically every American watching this thing ,and this nation has a population of 300M +, if they’re not watching the question is asked “why aren’t you watching the Superbowl what’s wrong with you?” Hell even the US troops in Afghanistan are watching this!
For the 2012 Superbowl the honour to sing the national anthem and carry and fly the US Flag in a musical form went to Grammy Award winner singer Kelly Clarkson. Good choice.
The last couple of years have seen background music and any form of backing ditched in favour of an acapella version which we think puts too much pressure on the performer in what are not exactly ideal acoustics for a singer.. This year things are different there’s some instrumental backing and also backing vocals and it certainly makes a difference and Kelly Clarkson did herself and her nation proud. Top notch performance and 100% live as it should be……….don’t think it could have been done any better really! Even the cat’s impressed?
