R2D2, C-3PO, Storm Troopers, they were all there at the special screening of Stars Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace  a 3D remaster of the original. The premiere style event was held at the The Empire Leicester Square tonight February 8th in London and names at the event included Anthony Daniels, Kate Garraway, Edith Bowman, Kevin Adams, Lucy Alexander and Laura Whitmore plus the extra names in full regalia.. Anthony Daniels is famous for playing the droid C-3PO hence his dominance at the event.

Phantom may not be the best entry in the series, but it’s the most technically accomplished, and it makes you as hungry for the next film as you’ve been for this one. Rating 91/100

It’s a kiddie movie rejiggered for childish grown-ups, of whom there are enough to make it a hit. How such childishness has become a virtual secular religion is hard to imagine. Rating 50/100

My verdict and a professional one as I’ve seen them all (many times)  is Episode 4 as in the first to screen and original Stars Wars was brilliant the follow on was just as good and this film is not a patch on either. 3D will not make a jot of difference to this rating BUT this film has been seen in original form on it’s original release date and it was my first introduction to Natalie Portman and she is looking on the money in this film. Some good fight scenes in here and good special effects  but the film does drag in places. If you’re a Natalie Portman fan  this is essential  viewing, but Black Swan………….. it is not! Timeless film none the less.Box office numbers could be interesting !
