A very sad day for the music industry, relatives of Whitney Houston and fans and the world in general with the announcement today that Whitney Houston died on February 11 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California at the age of 48.

According to TMZ, Houston was running late to get ready for the pre-Grammy Awards party being held four floors down today in the hotel by her mentor, Clive Davis. After her stylists and bodyguards became concerned that Houston was in the bathroom for over an hour, they knocked on the door but Houston did not answer back. A female hairdresser went to check on Houston and quickly screamed as she discovered Houston in the bathtub. A bodyguard came in and quickly pulled Houston out of the bathtub. It was reported that Houston’s face was underwater and her body was stone cold.
Whitney Houston famous for her multiple talents including being a singer, actress, film producer, music producer, songwriter and model, it was with her musical and especially vocal prowess that put this lady on the fame map in a very big way. Her career spanned from the late 70′s up to the present day with her recent comeback.
Her most famous works included No. 1 “Saving All My Love for You”, “How Will I Know”, “Greatest Love of All”, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, “Didn’t We Almost Have It All”, “So Emotional” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go”). Her appearance in the film The Bodyguard is now one of her most famous roles and the song from that film with Its lead single “I Will Always Love You“, became the best-selling single by a female artist in music history at that time.
Her vocal range was classed as Mezzo Soprano covering notes from G below middle C (G3) to high B-flat (B♭5) demonstrating a very extended middle range which led to her becoming known as quite simply “The Voice” which led to her winning a huge quantity of awards including 6 Grammy Awards during her career span.
She will be remembered as one of the all time greats up there with names such as Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner. A special commemoration is being held tonight 12 February at the 2012c Grammy Awards to pay tribute to this incredibly talented and gifted artist.
