The Queen at The Royal Pageant on the Thames 2012
Massive celebrations are underway for the Queens Diamond Jubilee for her reign of 60 years across the country and London was the main staging area yesterday, with the Thames Pageant being the highlight on Sunday and acting as a beacon to the rest of the nation with street parties across the country running into 4 figures despite the weather. Apparently nothing has been seen like this Pageant on the Thames for over 300 years. Queen Victoria is the only other monarch to reach this 60 year milestone All once in a lifetime stuff.
The BBC did a superb coverage of the event complete with rain splattered cameras adding that extra reality to the British weather that was prevalent throughout most of the event but in true Brit style things carried on regardless and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations spirit was not dampened in the slightest.
Royalty in attendance of course included The Queen and Prince Philip, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton respendent in red), Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice and Eugenie amongst others. The pageant was made up of over a thousand boats split into varios categories and Sir Steve Redgrave was one of many manning Gloriana the lead boat in the man powered section of the pageant. The Middletons were on a seperate boat from the Royals including Kate’s sister Pippa. Just like the Royal Wedding, you had to admire the precision of the whole thing with everything timed perfectly and not a single glitch as far as we were aware..
