The Classic Brit Awards were held last night at the Royal Albert Hall in Central London in the Knightsbridge/Kensington Area. As you’ve guessed this is a music awards event in the Brit Awards style but with the focus on awarding outstanding classical music and associated artists.
It was a choice of either an event in Cavendish Square W1 (No5 to be exact) at the back of Oxford street or this one at the Royal Albert Hall. As I was coming straight from White City the Classic Brit Awards got the nod as it was nearer and easier to get too.
Myleene Klass was presenting at this event so was a dead cert on the red carpet arrivals which did play a major factor in deciding to drag some major camera gear to this event. Unfortunately she didn’t come over for a chat so no photo!

Time: Red carpet arrivals to start at 5.30pm
Arrived: 5.35pm!
Left: About 6.30pm as my camera was getting soggy!
Guest List: Alan Titchmarsh, Aled Jones, Alison Balsom, Andre Rieu, Andrea Bocelli, Anthony Hopkins, Cerys Matthews, Connie Fisher, Hayley Westenra, Janet Street-Porter, Joe McElderry, Laura Wright, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Myleene Klass, Nicola Benedetti, Ramin Karimloo, Victoria Pendleton plus many more
Crowds: Around 70 or so plus a lot of media and press photogs. Age group 35 plus. No screaming here it was all a bit posh and Tally ho and Earl Grey Teas. I was on my best behaviour but it was difficult.
Weather: Grey and windy but dry initially gradually making way to an annoying and nagging persistent drizzle which is when I packed up after 1 hour. See the umbrellas in the photos!
Camera: Canon 30d normal press rig set up
Flash: Yes balanced and low cranking it up into blitz mode when it got darker
Shots: A very frugal 63 (batteries were getting low from some earlier shooting elsewhere). Keepers around 85% although the 15% that were not up to the mark were still reasonable but just out of flash range.
Regrets: Didn’t get shots of Victoria Pendleton and Myleene Klass
