Taylor Swift was amongst other music stars who descended on the 2013 Brit Awards which was held at the o2 Arena in North Greenwich in South London on Wednesday Night 20 February. Guest list included Jessie J, Emeli Sande and One Direction amongst many others.
A short flying visit produced 3 photos of Taylor Swift on a windy night including one ultra close up taken from the VIP Arrivals area where the screaming fans were. This was about 50 metres from the main red carpet staging area . The ultra close up shot was a mere 3 feet away……….. what is called in the trade a “within kissing distance” shot.
Robin Gibb one of the brothers in the infamous line up of the disco group The Bee Gees has died after a long battle with Cancer aged 62. The Bee Gees are famous for their hits such as How Deep Is Your Love, Stayin’ Alive, and Tragedy back in the 70′s and 80′s in the days of Disco. The brothers also wrote major hits for other artists including Diana Ross’s Chain Reaction and Islands In The Stream for Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
The Bee Gees are probably remembered mostly for their major musical backing in the film Saturday Night Fever which had a corresponding album that achieved similar status in the music charts and is now a cult classic that starred John Travolta and spawned many hits . More than 200 million records (more…)
Adele continues her march in the music awards stakes, if there is a music awards event out there she is normally picking up a gong somewhere along the line. Well she picked up more than one at this event, she totally dominated the proceedings and led the way with a huge haul, Top Artist being the one to win and Adele nailed that one along with many others. Good to see superior talent being recognised in a big way as these sort of singers don’t come along very often! A collection of photos taken inside the event and after the red carpet arrivals (see previous post for those shots) .
Photos taken from the actual Show itself with presenters and live performances along with some Press Room photos of the award winners holding their musical trophies, some sneaky Backstage pics seeing who was pally with who.
Winners on the night included the previously mentioned Katy Perry along with LMFAO who were also prominent along with Lady Gaga and Coldplay. all decent names you expect to win at least one award at such an event..
Performances included Kelly Clarkson of now Super Bowl National Anthem fame and Carrie Underwood who both did a live sample of their new singles, The Wanted also blasted out a tune , Usher and Justin Bieber thought it would be a good idea to perform on stage as well. Full 2012 Billboard Music Awards Winners list in Part 2. It’s massive!
Alicia Keys being interviewed on the Red Carpet June 2011
The 2012 Billboard Music Awards were held last night on May 20, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and as you can imagine this red carpet music awards event pulled in the big music stars like nothing else. Some big names here, some we haven’t seen for some time but essential on a guest list for a major music award such as this.
Who was there? The Bieber was there rcoking his new Elvis barnet along with Katy Perry (you may have heard of her), Alicia Keys and other half Swizz Beatz, Amber Rose, Carrie Underwood, Amber Rose, Gladys Knight, John Legend, Julianne Hough, Miley Cyrus, Nelly Furtado, Taylor Swift, The Wanted, Usher and Zooey Deschanel. That’s a quick skim of the more prominent names on the guest list, full rather large guest list at foot of this article.
Gone with Alicia Keys for this event headline. She was doing it for me and as I lalways like to say she was “Looking on the money!” Alicia Keys photo above taken from a different event wayback in June 2011. Grab the Red Carpet pica in Part 2 (more…)
Donna Summer died on Thursday at the age of 63 and according to sources she was suffering from cancer. The 5 times Grammy Award winner star who’s famous number amongst many was “I Feel Love” which rocked the music world. It was many decades ahead of it’s time and dominated the music charts for a considerable period back in the day when names such as The Jacksons amongst many others were around. Remember my parents playing this song as a tiny nipper………over and over, it was everywhere. It went viral in a big way you could say and there was no Internet in those days!
Fans and stars paid tribute at her star on the Hollywood walk of Fame and top names in the music industry paid tribute to this supremely talented singer.
According to the BBC R&B singer Mary J Blige stated on Twitter that Donna Summer was “truly a game changer”, while producer Quincy Jones said her voice “was the heartbeat and soundtrack of a decade”.
