3 days into a supposed summer break from anything resembling celebrity photography and a personal casual visit to the Prudential Ride London event this Saturday soon changed all that. Busmans Holiday thoughts sprang to mind. No rest for the wicked was the other?

purely a supportive visit (ex racer myself but retired after 5 years at a whopping 22 with a few wins an placings gracing the local rags) Team GB cyclists Olympic medalists Dani King and golden Girl Laura Trott (front page of the London Evening Standard on Friday enough said!) were top billing in the 96 international rider Womens Grand Prix on The Mall in Central London.

So with a spot on The Mall at the 25m marker (finish line was waty too crowded) and with camera in hand de press rigged with no flash to sort of blend in the background. The casual intention was MAYBE getting the odd shot of Dani or Laura flying past and not much more was expected.

10 minutes later and the photos in the gallery below tell a different story. Race finish shots are slighly off on focus. I’m now back on holiday again keeping one eye open for this Kate Moss in Asda photo.

The WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party presented by Dubai Duty Free was held on Thursday night 20 June, with a mass of WTA stars in attendance all strolling on a pink carpet. Names included World No1 Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Agnieszka Radwanska, Angelique Kerber and Petra Kvitova and not forgetting Laura Robson and many more

This was WTA’s 40th anniversary celebration and marks the dawning of the one and only Wimbledon the Grand Slam tournament whichstarts on June 24 and ends on July 8.

Over 800 guests attended this event held at the Roof Top Gardens venue in Kensington which included a non tennis celebrity line up that included names such as Bianca Jagger, Sascha Bailey and Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range and other stars.

Some different shots taken from directly in front of the A board looking down the pink carpet and annoying the hell out of the press.  The stars were sometimes merely feet away. Quite a few of newcomer Heather Watson who seemed to be keen to be photographed! Laura Robson was the reverse unfortunately or maybe it was my aftershave? Got a few waves from some of the stars including Serena!

Slight deliberate hold back on release of this article for various reasons. Full gallery after the jump

Purely a personal stress free non business trip to give some support to the runners and their worthy causes and of course a bit of celebrity spotting thrown into the mix. Further details below and gallery after the jump.

Andy Murray has made British Tennis history and claimed his first tennis Grand Slam victory in the US Open and after years of trying he’s finally claimed what deserved to be his.

My only regret is I was not there to photograph the moment.  On court interview video  Link with full details of the match duration and final score.

Andy Murray is one of those sports stars I personally follow more closely than others along with names such as Bradley Wiggins, Maria Sharapova, Jessica Ennis, Victoria Pendleton and our new rising Tennis star Laura Robson (keep an eye on her she’s destined for great things) amongst others. They have all had a rocky road to success but got there in the end!

The 2012 Paralympic Marathon was held on Sunday 9 September and it was thought a few extra cheers for Team GB especially David Weir the Gold Medal hopeful would be a damned good idea and a Marathon of 26 miles just using your arms for propulsion in a hi tech tri wheeled high speed wheelchair is also worthy of support.  Seriously hat’s off to these guys. Super humans they certainly are!

So armed with my lightweight Fuji camera a decade old it was decided to lose my cherry and take some photos of paralympian’s in action through the streets of London. This could be interesting. They can’t go that fast can they? Little did I know that these guys can reach speeds of over 20mph! After just getting front or back wheels and the odd arm on the first lap and just two laps to go my photographic skills were coming into question. Maybe should have brought the DSLR after all.

With Bradley Wiggins (Wiggo aka Mr Sideburns) carrying a nations high expectations for a much needed Gold on his shoulder, the Stage was set at Hampton Court and Surrey for the London 2012 Olympics Road Time Men and Women’s Time Trial.

“Wiggo for Gold”  was the headline from The Sun on the day and a certain FJ decided to go with semi decent camera in hand after an early 5am ish rise as the very strong feeling was….. this would be once in a lifetime stuff! A capture of the vibe and watch potential history being made and it most certainly was. Along with a Gold from the Women’s Rowing at Eton Dorney and also Chris Froome getting the bronze behind Mr Wiggins.

Watch for more further photo updates on Flickr and added to this article with other Team GB and Global riders that feutured at the event including the US Winner of the Women’s Time Trial. More Bradley Wiggins and other riders photos below! (more…)
