Unless you were in a coma yesterday the whole world knew that Sunday 21 april was the day of the 2013 London Marathon. Wouldn’t miss this for the world.
Purely a personal stress free non business trip to give some support to the runners and their worthy causes and of course a bit of celebrity spotting thrown into the mix. Further details below and gallery after the jump.
Andy Murray wins the 2012 US Open and his first Tennis Gran Slam. Photo AP Video Grab
Andy Murray has made British Tennis history and claimed his first tennis Grand Slam victory in the US Open and after years of trying he’s finally claimed what deserved to be his.
My only regret is I was not there to photograph the moment. On court interview video Link with full details of the match duration and final score.
Andy Murray is one of those sports stars I personally follow more closely than others along with names such as Bradley Wiggins, Maria Sharapova, Jessica Ennis, Victoria Pendleton and our new rising Tennis star Laura Robson (keep an eye on her she’s destined for great things) amongst others. They have all had a rocky road to success but got there in the end!

The 2012 Paralympic Marathon was held on Sunday 9 September and it was thought a few extra cheers for Team GB especially David Weir the Gold Medal hopeful would be a damned good idea and a Marathon of 26 miles just using your arms for propulsion in a hi tech tri wheeled high speed wheelchair is also worthy of support. Seriously hat’s off to these guys. Super humans they certainly are!
So armed with my lightweight Fuji camera a decade old it was decided to lose my cherry and take some photos of paralympian’s in action through the streets of London. This could be interesting. They can’t go that fast can they? Little did I know that these guys can reach speeds of over 20mph! After just getting front or back wheels and the odd arm on the first lap and just two laps to go my photographic skills were coming into question. Maybe should have brought the DSLR after all.
